I didn’t realize that this book was a sequel but it stood on its own just fine. Willow belongs to the People of the Seal and sees that her uncles are eying her to help populate their community with healthy infants. Willow doesn’t just want to be a breeder and builds a boat to escape to the sea. When the boat sinks, Willow leaves for the forbidden land with just a few supplies and a dog.
