1. David Greene, The Celtic Languages
2. J.J Tierney, The Celts and Classical Authors
3. Otto-Herman Frey, The Archaeology of the Celts on the Continent
4., Joseph Raftery, The Archaeology of the Celts in Ireland
5. Myles Dillon, Celtic Religion and Celtic Society
6. Kenneth Jackson, The Celtic Aftermath in the Islands
The 1964 Thomas Davis lectures are dense with information packed into lectures for the lay audience. Those by Greene, Tierney, and especially Jackson are very fine. Together, all the lectures summarize the state of Celtic Studies in 1964 and are a measure of how much has been done since then and how many challenges remain.
