Anyone who knows me can tell you that I love children's picture books. Not only do I enjoy reading them for Story Time at work, I also write my own - which I am hoping to get published one day.
So, I unashamedly collect them. I don't even use the excuse that I hope to have grandkids one day - although they will come in handy when that happens.
I just like cute little stories with soft, gentle illustrations.
Hence, I have a number of them on my Amazon wishlist.

I bought this sweet book to read to my three year old grandson at bedtime when he's visiting me. He absolutely loved it and he pointed to the pictures in the book as I read it and told me what each animal was and to each of the bugs too. I have actually read this book to him at least once every weekend when he is visiting and he can tell me things about this book before I read them now. We both really enjoy this book each time we read it.

A wonderful bedtime book! My daughter loved having this book read to her as a baby, now at 2 years old she still enjoys it, as does her baby brother. The illustrations are soft and soothing pastel watercolors, and the the text is clever and rhyming for a smooth and easy read. This book is such a favorite and read so much, I don't even need to look at the text anymore to read this book to my little ones.

This beautifully illustrated book will most certainly be read over and over again.

Whether it is the baby antelope heading home after a long day...

Or the birds chittering and cheeping in the treetops till fall fast asleep...

To the zebras panting quietly after their play and sink into sleep at the end of a long day...

This book will get your little ones ready to close their eyes too!

Gorgeous illustrations and lyrical text make this book a definite part of your bedtime routine.

The text is simple yet provoking. It has great descriptive language, for example “Through wild, waving grasses shy antelope roam”. The author also uses rhyming at the end of each sentence. Therefore, each page consists of two sentences or phases, in which the last word of each rhymes.
The illustrator, Macnaughton, does a wonderful job making the illustration peaceful and inviting. The animals and surrounding look natural and realistic, but have again that

Mommy Bookworm’s Thoughts: This is a very cute book with wonderful illustrations for anyone who loves animals! I think that even toddlers would enjoy the book because of the illustrations even though they couldn’t read the text. It shows the love of families through cute wild animals, which pulls at my heartstrings since I love animals!!

Dahlia Bookworm’s Thoughts: I like the cute pictures because they show the mom (or dad) and the baby animal. I like how the author wrote different things for ea

All of the animals, from the bold leopard to the shy antelope, snuggle down for the night, ready to sleep, in this charming book. The baby hippo cuddles up close for a big hippo hug while the porcupines curl up together in one spiky ball. This soothing rhyme, illustrated with glowing pastels, is the perfect bedtime story for a child worn out by a busy day.

The pastel illustrations are lovely, and definitely the large draw for this book. In particular, I liked the gradual shift in the sky from page to page--moving progressively toward the darkness of night.

The rhyming text is basically what you expect from a sweet toddler bedtime book about animals going to sleep. It's nice enough, but nothing super special. But it is a nice bedtime book when you do want something sweet and snuggly to read to your little one.

What a great bedtime story! This book illustrates how different animals cuddle up and snuggle when they go to sleep. Each page has a short rhyming poem. After reading it wil my son, he was ready to snuggle up and go to bed! (What a miracle!) This book is beautifully illustrated and great to get you little ones read to go to bed.

Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones is great story to read before naptime or bed. It is rich with adjectives provide descriptive imagery. It also includes a variety of different animals that one would find in the wild environment of a savannah or grasslands. This book is great for poetry. It includes many great rhyming words.

It didn't always rhyme, but still, it was poetic and descriptive
the illustrations were beautiful and rich
showing the wonderful creatures of Africa and showing the changing times of day as it came 2 an end
it was cute....I'm glad I saw it
I bought it as a gift but hope 2 get another 4 my own personal library :)

A sweet, soothing bedtime story - unfortunately, that's not how we do bedtime in our house, so it loses a lot of its purpose. The pictures are absolutely beautiful, but the text is a bit insipid, and it's not really appropriate for all the animals included to be going to sleep at the same time. That said, my 18mo does enjoy it, and the rhymes and rhythm make it enjoyable to read aloud.

This has become mine and my daughters new night time book. She likes the cadence of the rhymes and it lends itself to adding my own inflection that she finds humorous. I love the sleepy little smiles it gets from her as she has her night time bottle. The illustrations are full of rich, vibrant colors and lots of animals which I can only imagine catch her attention as well.

I loved the illustrations!!They give the story a realistic feel.
This would be a great book to read before nap/night time.
Being that the animals in the story are all in a safari/desert/african like setting this story coulb be used to illustrate these settings in science/social studies

I began to write after joining a creative writing class. I had no success with article writing, or short stories, or fiction, but the first children’s story I wrote, for a
