10/10 - read for my health Econ class but honestly this was the most helpful textbook to supplement my class. also such a unique perspective on health - really pushed me to rethink health care metrics as more than just patient outcomes - productivity, market efficiencies — all the gross corporate side of healthcare I thought was so greasy but in reality it needs to be considered because it sets the premise and useful tools for decision making processes on funding choices, and hugely impacts feasibility in policy, as I’ve learned. excited and hope it preps me for my next two semesters in health technology assessments! 🤓
A very well-written book on health economics that not only gives a good introduction to basic economics but also goes in depth explaining rationales that drive health economics policies. Moreover, the concepts of economics are so well explained in a simple, but not at all simplistic manner, that the book would actually be very good as well for those trying to better understand economics concepts in general.
