The Legend of Darkness and Light

Rate this book
Legend has it, Darkness is a stone that holds all the evil of a long-dead alien race. Jayden Pearce braved the Dark Forest that hid the stone for centuries. Not one for curses, he sold it to a private collector. But legend forgot about Light, the sister stone to Darkness and a key to untold rewards. Jayden Pearce forgot about it, too, until his old partner returns with an offer he can't refuse.

Kristine was educated in Veterinary medicine, then spent 10 years in that field until one day, with her arm up a cow's ass, it dawned on her - in the way that astonishing things dawn, with bright flashes of light, a sweeping theme and credits for a Key Grip and Gaffer - that people really did get paid to do other things.

Now she writes, cuts rocks for pleasure, and spends maybe just a little too much time playing video games she justifies as novel "research".

In my journal I wrote that this was the worst book I’ve ever read. The editing was pathetic and the plot details were nonexistent. A story that should have taken a thousand pages told in 360. Pure rubbish.

This is an exciting, fast paced adventure story following Jayden Pearce as he becomes entangled in the hunt first for the legendary Darkness stone, then on to find the matching gem, it's treasure and a lost alien race. Set on another world, it incorporates science fiction, fantasy, adventure and treasure in a tale that has you gripped to the end. The characters all have hidden depths, some expected some not, that add many twists and turns to the story.

Not bad, but there was a lot more talking about things then there was doing. Adventure books need more adventure in them. Also, I don't like the way they resolve the "aliens", it was convinent and didn't have any logic for the way it happened. There were quite a few incorrect word substitutions, I ignored then till I was about a third of the way through and then it started annoying me. Editors are essential.

This novel was lots of fun. Indiana Jones in space with all of the "campness" you'd expect.

It was fluff - but it was pleasant fluff and I had fun all the way through. I could poke fun at the story, but it really looked like it was poking fun at itself better than I ever could.

This is the book for you if you like characters who spend all their time talking about their exploits instead of living them. Cardboard characters who were taking straight out of Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers, stakes that were too big yet not engaging to the reader.

Fun read. I didn't expect it to be outstanding based upon the overall rating, but I enjoyed it. It was a quick fun read. I'm going to have my 8 year old read it as well since I think he will like it.
