This is a good devotional for those who are Christians and need a challenge to their daily walk with God. I would recommend this book to all Christians.

I did not read it as a devotional, but just for a quick light read now and then. I love some of his powerful statements and devotions. Some of my favourites: self-examination is not introspection p. 116, on the Puritans..."theology is also spirituality" p. 159, and page 286 the most loaded statement he's ever heard: God is sovereign in all things, and all problems find their solution at Calvary.

I used this collection for devotions this year. This book is made up of selections from previous writings by Packer. They are good, but are quite intellectual and require a lot of focus and often more than one reading, by me anyways. So recommended for those with a theological bent, but definitely not for all.

Parker is a hero of faith & studying 'Knowing Jesus' with my home group is awesome but this book just didn't do it for me.

J I Packer has some real treasures in his writing. But, to be honest, I sometimes found it very hard-going.
