JOVE reads like a plausible human mission to another planet rather than a pure fantasy journey that clearly could never take place. The human characters are real and grounded and well drawn. Their encounters with aliens and fantastic situations may be the stuff of pulpy sword and planet escapism but it all functions according to the laws of science and physics.
Because of this I experienced no difficulty in being carried along on a boundless adventure.
Caught up in the crews exciting and fast-paced struggles I was transported to another world and loved it.
Escape to JOVE. What a journey !

JOVE by Stephen Pratt combines two genres very successfully. Space opera with Sword and Planet.

A peaceful human mission to the newly discovered solid surface of Jupiter goes horribly wrong when the crew of the spaceship get stranded there. Leaving them with no choice but to live their lives among vicious monsters and brutal natives.
But when a chance to return to Earth presents itself the stranded humans must shake the very foundations of two worlds to bring that about.
Welcome to JOVE.
Thrilling and packed with surprises. Expect no mercy.

This is classic hard science fiction. Life is discovered on Jupiter when an unmanned probe after surviving the stormy turbulent outer atmosphere lands and films itself being destroyed by alien animals. Now we need a manned mission to study life on the planet and startling new discoveries begin. The eBook price has just been dropped to 99 cents.
