I first saw the movie and basically anything with young Freddie Highmore is brilliant so I love the movie. I didn't realize they were books until years later and didn't know even until later than that that Jim Dale read the audio books! I love a good audio book, so I listened to Jim Dale's excellent performance and loved every second.

The movie is about both "Arthur and the Minimoys" and "Arthur and the Forbidden City", and it follows it very well, if my memory is correct. Again, I love both so v
A nice book to get out of the reading slump.Interesting story, really poor written and I felt like the characters could've been more developed.Overall, get your hands on this if you want your reading slump to go away.

read this to my son for bedtime... it took awhile (2-4 a night) but he liked it.

In this sequel to, or more properly continuation of, Arthur and the Minimoys, Arthur, whose grandfather Archibald had disappeared some four years earlier and whose grandmother is now in danger of losing their home to Mr. Davido because she can’t pay the mortgage, has been reduced in size so that he can journey underground to the land of the Minimoys in hopes of rescuing his grandfather and finding the jewels which Archibald had hidden in the garden so that the mortgage can be paid. Recommends it for: People who read and loved Arthur and the Minimoys, or desperate Luc Besson fans.
This sequel to Arthur and the Minimoys took me a long time to read, partly because I didn’t think the first book was very good. Well, the second one isn’t that good, either, and it is due to the same problems. For some reason Besson, a film director, has a TERRIBLE sense of visualization, or at least describing what he sees. This is partly because Besson, himself, doesn’t seem to understand what he’s talking about half the time. Relative sizes don’t make sense or stay consistent. Throughout both ...more

The completion of the Arthur and the minimoys story. While this one had considerable more action, and the film stuck closely to a lot of it, it had major elements to it that seem to make more sense in the book (ie the love story and marriage, which is cut out in the movie... Selena even mentions the importance of a princess' first kiss in the movie but does not eleaborate). However, there are inconsistencies in this book. Such as how many moon until Arthur can return. Is it seven? Twelve? Ten? E ...more

The second part is just as good. The fact that Arthur learned and grow up during the adventure is just -- I'd say perfect. He had his moments, but at times Arthur behave like a child as he should be and other times like those beyond thier own age. I love the writing style and the story idea. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but the chances that present itself were expected. It's a good book to read for children - still. And adult if they love to go on little adventures that could get them off the tr ...more

I liked the book. this book is for people who love creativity and imagination. You need to read the first book though. I thought it was the first book so it was a little confusing. I liked how the author made you think of what it was like as an ant. This book changes your perspective. Other than that it was a good book.

Had to read this follow up to Arthur and the Minimoys. I was not disappointed. I am going to watch for other books by Luc Besson. I am sad there are only two about Arthur and his adventures with the Minimoys.

I thought this book was okay because I thought there could've been more action then adventure but I guess the adventure of finding his grandfather was okay. This book kind of reminded me of a fairy tale from a the main character's point of view.

As the previous book, I used to love it as a kid but sadly it was not as good now.
As a curiosity, this was the book that made me start reading in the original language whenever possible, because it was while reading it years ago that I first noticed a pun that was lost in translation.

This is the second book in the Arthur series. It wraps up the story begun in the first book. Arthur, Princess Selenia, and Beta make it to the Forbidden City, defeat the evil M., find his grandfather and the treasure, and save the farm. This is such a cute story and a fun fantasy read.

It's a good story. The writing is okay, but not great. I was happy to finish the story, having been dropped off an edge and cut short at the end of Arthur and the Minimoys.

I really like the bit about kissing and the power that a kiss has. I thought that was awesome.

Very good! An exciting story of a lost treasure and people less than an inch tall! But that's all I'll say!

This book is well written for the young reader. The writing is very obviously written to be made into a movie, which it has been.

We liked this book even more than the first one. We would like to see Arthur bring the princess to his world in a third book. Great audio book!
