Rate this book
People take up running for many reasons, from weight loss to offseason conditioning for athletics to improved cardiovascular health. But did you know that running is an effective way to strengthen one's faith as well? Run for God-the 5K Challenge is a guide to running and a twelve-week training plan aimed at running a 5K, but with a Christian focus. Author Mitchell Hollis introduces runners to the similarities between running and witnessing for Christ. The workout plans, discussion questions, and Bible verses make it both a practical resource and a workbook for individuals and groups, especially beginning runners. From advice about shoes and Christian music for one's MP3 player to tips on race etiquette, the book will be useful and inspirational. Run for God is designed for all levels of runners, even those who have never run. Learn to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ while understanding the parallels in enduring a sport like running and enduring your faith.

I purchased this book because I really wanted to do this program. There ended up being one program online. I quickly purchased a used book and participated virtually for several weeks. I found that the book had been updated. I lost interest in following virtually. I finally decided to finish. I enjoyed the lesson and suggestions for each section. I'm keeping this handy because I find it useful. I felt guilty as I read the assignments for the week and realized I should be farther in my training but my mileage is farther so I have to remember that the important part is the lesson and suggestions.

The training program (and everything you get in the paid membership) is top notch but parts of the actual book have a lot of grammar errors and it isn't as concise as it could be. I think it's just because it's not authored by writers. I enjoyed the program tremendously! It changed my life for the better!

Did this with a small group with my church. I felt this brought our group together and had good discussion questions. The training for a 5k was good, but wish there was an app for android to accompany the book to help with the training.
