Penny the puppy has a toy all of her own. Pup is all squashy and floppy, and Penny chews and loves him to bits. Penny doesn't think he needs any other friends, but then one day Pup is lost and Penny doesn't know who to turn to for help.
Penny’s first night in her new home was very scary she whined and howled so her family gave her a pup to be her friend. Penny loved pup one day they went out to the garden, Henry the cat was sitting in the yard they were going for a walk, Henry asked could he come but Penny said pup only wants me for a friend. By the back gate Betsy the rabbit was sitting in her hutch she wanted Penny to talk to her because she was bored being all on her own. But Penny said they were going for a walk, on the edge of the lawn she met Matt the fox club. Come and play with me he barked, pup doesn’t like playing with foxes penny said. Penny walked on towards the garden shed she put pup down and smelled under the shed as it smelled so exciting she decided her and pup would go for an adventure. Pushing pup in front of her she squeezed her head under the shed. When Penny tried to follow she realised she was too big. She wriggled and squeezed but she couldn’t fit. She couldn’t reach pup she couldn’t even see him. Penny sat and cried, Matt the fox cub heard her cry and came trotting across the lawn. I’ll help you he said but he couldn’t reach pup either. Then Henry the cat said he would help rescue pup but he couldn’t squeeze his head under the shed. Along came Betsy the rabbit ill help you she said, as she was small, she wriggled under the shed but pup wasn’t there anymore they looked everywhere for pup, then they found pup lying in a hedge with a family of mice, they were all curled up on top of pup it seemed a pity to disturb them. Come and play with us Penny meowed Henry, Penny had so much fun playing with her new friends that she forgot about pup. When it was teatime Penny went to fetch pup, mother mouse asked Penny could they borrow her pup as she makes a lovely bed for her babies. Penny thought they need pup more than I do now I have real friends I don’t think I need him anymore said Penny. This is a lovely story that children will enjoy, the illustration is wonderful. There is also a hidden message for children that they should be nice and play with others , as Penny realised she had friends who would help her.
A sweet book about friends helping friends. Penny has a special stuffed friend that goes missing. All of her friends rally to help her find Pup. When Penny finally discovers where Pup has gone, she discovers that Pup is helping some other friends. In an act of true generosity, she makes a selfless act to help some other friends. Jecel enjoyed reading this book and was able to read most of the words. A good book for beginners.
Penny and Pup is not only beautifully illustrated, but it also imparts a beautiful message. Penny thinks he does not need a friends, but we all need friends. Having many friends ain't so bad! This book teaches kids to open up and be friendly. Play and interact with others. You do not have to be alone! Definitely one of my favorite picture books now!
