I kind of liked the other three books in this series, but this one just didn't hit the mark for me. The hero (Devon) was kind of manipulative in the relationship, and the heroin (Kat) never seemed to follow through with her beliefs even though she was supposed to be this strong, independent woman. Plus I never understood Kat's relationship with her brother or even why he and Devon were such great friends--Malcolm was a bit of a lightweight and never stood up to or for anyone.

Sometimes I want a silly romance, than I read it and wished I hadn't waisted the time.

First off, let me say that I have no idea who wrote the summary of the book because:
1) the heroine's name is Kat (short for Katherine) NOT Melody.
2) nowhere in this book did it say that she ran off at the age of 12 to be an apprentice with a master of stained glass (which would have made the story more interesting).
3) she doesn't wear plaid at her wedding because there is no wedding scene.
4) Kat is not rude, wild and overbearing, she is a strong, creative and independent woman who pays her own ...more

Great Read!!
I love this author. Her books are witty, humorous, engaging, heartfelt, and always has a HEA. Though there were quite a few spelling errors (of Scottish names, where to insert commas and a run on sentence or two), I still loved the book. It was not too distracting as some that I've read, and would definitely recommend this book. It does leave you with questions, such as the status of Devon's (hero) brothers and what led them to the cursed ring and their brides; as well as all of what ...more

I loved Kat and I totally wanted that sil dead and I'm not ashamed of it. I loved that while we were following Devon and Kat's history, we were also following other couple's fight and I thought is was pretty cute the way they love each other but couldn't make it work without compromising.

I liked so much about this story and characters but disliked the hero soooo much! He didn’t change/overcome/achieve anything!! The heroine was freaking awesome and deserved someone as badass as her but nope here is a man who “doesn’t want to get married”....what a shock. The focus on the hero took away from other characters who were interesting! Which made the book feel flat at the end. I would normally say skip but the heroine is so cool! Read it for her and imagine she is living great without

The Talisman Ring series is a lot of fun. This book features Devon & Kat. At the beginning he is running from the supposed curse of the ring and by the end he is embracing it. Ready for Marcus's book next.

btw, the main female character's name in the ebook is Katherine or Kat. Her name is Melody or Catherine in the synopsis at various venues (Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble); very confusing.

I very nearly stopped reading at about the halfway point. Kat and her Seven Giants were the only thing to pull me through.
The idea of Devon fleeing to Scotland to avoid the ring's curse is a good start, but then the whole premise is undone when he decides the only way to truly thwart the ring's powers is to find the most inappropriate woman possible and bang her. He sets his sights on a lady's maid, forces his kisses on her, and then goes about stalking her til he gets what he wants.

Book #4 in the Talisman Ring series. This book is about Devon St. John -- handsome, blue-eyed and from the richest family in England. The St. John's have a family heirloom -- it is a ring and whomever has it in his possession will find their true love. Devon has had three brothers fall victim to this ring and he has no intention of being the next. So, he takes off from his brother Chase's wedding -- before the wedding even happens -- in order to prevent Chase from tricking him into taking the ri

This book is a continuation of the Talisman Ring series. It is about the St. John family this time Devon St. John. The Talisman Ring is said to show the bearer his/her true love and thus far it has. I enjoyed the chemistry between Kat and Devon right from the start. I also enjoyed the play on the classic fairytale Snow White. I enjoy Karen Hawkins writing style which is rich in detail, she keeps the story moving along at a good pace, and has characters that you can connect with. Kat in this book

I am really liking this series. Of course, I knew from the beginning of this book how it ends...happily ever after as with 99.9% of Romance novels. The title goes a step farther...I knew exactly how it would end. The result for me every step of the way...a knowing chuckle. I knew Devon was going to fall into the very trap he was trying to avoid. Also, Katherine didn't have a choice either. I don't usually pick up the next book in a series. I couldn't help myself. Marcus is the last St. John to h

Enjoyable story furthering the curse of the Talisman Ring. This is Devon's story. While visiting a friend in Scotland, Devon meets the beautiful and lush half-sister of his host. Determined to seduce her, Kat is hesitant to get involved with anyone, having been burned in the past. I had a bit of trouble with Devon's unscrupulous designs on Kat, at first, but the the whole story and their courtship won me over. 3.5/5

This was an enjoyable easy read...the blurb is incorrect however, the heroine is called Katherine "Kat" not Melody. The sexual tension was strong, the insight to Fiona and Malcom's marital woes were a nice addition too. I must say though that the little quotes at the chapter starts were mildly confusing. It may be that they are relevent to other characters in this series but I decided to pass the others as I was only interested in this title due to an intriguing "anyone recognise this book" blur

I got as far as the second chapter. Hero grabs the heroine, kisses her, refuses to let her go, then tells her that it's her fault for looking "so tempting." He even goes as far as telling her that if she wants to avoid being mauled, she should bind her breasts, and pad her hips to make herself look plump. Really? If a woman is attractive, then it's her fault when men force unwanted attentions on her? Puke.

This was the first book I've read in the author's 'Talisman Ring' series, but I plan to get the next book, LADY IN RED. I enjoyed learning about the 'curse' of the ring and meeting Devon St. John. He was determined to seduce Kat Macdonald, the 'ruined' half-sister of his friend Malcolm, thinking that would protect him from the curse...and from marriage. What he didn't count on was falling in love with this smart, independant woman.

Devon St. John and Melody Macdonald make an awesome pair. Though Devon was bit of a jerk at the start- looking at Melody as nothing more than an accessible romp between the sheets, he quickly changes his tune. Melody is no cliched spinster, despite the bitterness life has offered her in the past. She is still delicate and headstrong. Who knew that was the combo needed to bring a certain St. John to his knees?

Sigh... Another wonderful book in a great series. I just can't get enough of the St. John brothers. In this book Devon learns what love really is and Kat learns to trust once more. I loved her lads and how they want to protect her.

The hero did not endear me at the outset with his views on who was good enough for a romp and how he'd go about getting it, but the rest of the story made up for his flaws. Interesting heroine and secondary characters.
