Business Value is my favorite hobby horse in the context of digitalization, so I was deeply interested to see how perception evolved in the last two decades.
The funny surprise: not at all! Now and then, IT guys still struggle to talk business, or better, to argue why they need more money. Well, perhaps, because it is the only silo, which wants to invest in bare metal servers and pay for electricity and proudly put this into ROI thinking.
Back to school, guys! Donaldson Brown introduced ROI to compare whole business units. IT positions itself too often as a silo and not a business unit for itself.
However, enlightening peek into the past.
