Is your bird biting, screaming, or pulling out his feathers? He might just be bored! Boredom Busters for Birds explores how to improve your fine feathered friend's life through socialization, interactive toys, environmental enrichments, and lots of fun, feather-friendly toys and activities! In 64 vividly illustrated pages, author Nikki Moustaki covers different ways of interacting with your bird to help develop good habits and enhance their intelligence and health. Nikki also includes advice and tips on which toys to use, how to play with your feathered companion, and activities for your bird to do while you're away, plus how to socialize them with other pets in the house. Enliven your feathered companion's days with this aviary full of ideas for chasing away birdy boredom and blues! Birds who don't have any physical or mental challenges can begin to exhibit unpleasant characteristics and behaviors. They can become depressed, anxious, self-destructive, outwardly aggressive, unpredictable, loud, and even ill. They might constantly screech, scream, and chew their own feathers. Some become brooding, quiet, and withdrawn. With this book, you can conquer boredom, anxiety, and unhappiness with fun avian-enriching activities, such as mealtime "foraging" games, homemade "birdy kabob" treats, and interactive behavior training. At day's end, your feathered friend will be mentally and physically satisfied—and no longer have a reason to screech about life! Turn your screeching Birdzilla back into a happy, friendly companion with Boredom Busters for Birds !

That was fun read.

I picked this up for some enrichment ideas for my rats. While not all of the bird suggestions translate to rats, many of them do. I wish that the author had included suggestions for and pictures of more homemade toys in addition to all of the store bought stuff. Definitely a quickie idea starter though.
