A stranger in a strange land, Elise is still trying to come to terms with the difficulties attached to being a dispossessed Earthling on an alien world. By all logic, she should have been terrified when the tall, muscular, cat-like humanoid rose from the water to capture her, be he ever so fascinatingly handsome. Instead, she discovers she is unable to resist when bombarded by the potent pheromones of his desire. Unfortunately, the fires of passion can not burn eternally and the moment it's quenched a
Born on a bayou, Angelique Anjou’s roots are cajun, but she makes her home now in the foothills of the Smokies, where she lives with her husband and son. As a late blooming Trekkie, science fiction and fantasy are the tales she cut her teeth on, and the genres, next to romance, that are most dear to her heart.
Originally, I only gave this book 4 stars. I really liked it, and I found myself thinking about it afterwards, but I wasn't ravenous to immediately re-read it.
Since that first read-through until now (Jan 2015) - I've probably re-read it about 5-6 times. So I'm thinking this really needs to be a 5 star.
I find that I really enjoy the Alien/Earth woman romance where the human lady is appreciated, given good lovin and has an HEA. This book has all of that. The only conflicts are the mis-communications and insecurities between the hero & heroine.
PLOT: Story begins with a group of humans who have landed on planet Tor. They are refugees escaping an over-crowded and inhospitable Earth. The planet they landed on is hot yet stable. The group of humans aren't very well bonded and the division of labor seems unequal.
The heroine of the story, Elise is out foraging for food as she does daily, thinking of how miserable, hungry and hot she has been since they arrived on Tor.
The hero, Ja-rael is from planet Meeri. Meeri and To are in the same system, but are only close enough for inter-plantary flight one time a year. Meeri has a softer climate than Tor, more food and water as well. Meeri has both males and females who have fur instead of hair, and other cat/lion characteristics. Although the females on Meeri are few and far between, they will only mate if there is a chance for a cub. They don't marry for love, have no emotional involvement with their mates and don't seem to enjoy the act of mating.
Ja-rael is a healer, and thus not wealthy. Healers are not supposed to accept money from the poor. Ja-rael supplements his income by traveling to Tor once a year to hunt and capture a creature called Narlo, which he can sell for profit on his home world of Meeri.
While at a pond washing off, he spots Elise thinking she is a fabled "maned lioness" spoken of in tales from his planet. He becomes aroused looking at her and his body gives off super-pheromones. Elise spots Ja-rael as the pheromones hit her and she can't wait to get naked with him. All her thinking is bypassed for pure desire.
In Meeri society, women are always guarded and accompanied. So when Ja-rael sees that Elise isn't accompanied, he decides to steal her. Since Elise is in a desire-fueled haze, she doesn't care that he run off with her to his space ship. They barely make it into his ship before having sex. After they finish, his pheromones dissipate allowing Elise to think again. Unfortunately, they are still physically joined as Meeri physiology keeps the man anchored within the woman to help with fertilization. Elise is screaming and smacking Ja-rael, who is confused and disturbed.
Ja-rael ends up taking Elise back to her compound of humans (who haven't been bothering to look for Elise while she has been missing) to bargain for her to be his mate. It goes poorly as the humans seem to think he's less intelligent than them because he only wears a loincloth on hot planet Tor.
Ja-rael sneaks off with Elise, his pheromones affecting her yet again, and Ja-rael extracts the promise of being his mate from a needy and lust-drugged Elise. Once again the sex followed by her horror at having had sex with an alien.
As his space-ship takes them back to Meeri, Elise gets to know Ja-rael and he her. He realizes she is not really a maned lioness, but another species altogether. His disappointment is made known to Else and her unhappiness in being kidnapped is made to him.
When they land on Meeri, Ja-rael leaves Elise at the space ship while he goes into town to purchase her clothing and other things she will need. While there, a husband of one of the pregnant women Ja-rael tends as a healer convinces him to come deal with the pregnant wife having trouble.
Meanwhile, Elise has run out of water in the space ship and goes to find some more. While attempting to get water, she is waylaid by several Meeri males looking for a mate. She barely escapes them into the space ship. These multiple males lay siege to the space ship trying to get Elise out so they can claim her.
Ja-rael spends several days away getting Elise clothing and then dealing with the Meeri woman giving birth. When he arrives back at his spacecraft, it is to see the remains of much fighting and males peeling the metal off the space craft trying to get to Elise. Ja-rael scares them off and finds Elise is near death from dehydration. He works to bring her back to health over many days but during this time, he comes to the realization that a true healer should not have a mate since his priority will always be his patients, and not his mate.
Ja-rael realizes his loneliness for a mate was selfish and plans to take Elise back to her people in one year when Meeri and Tor are once again close enough in orbit to travel between them. He will try to not develop feelings for her and treat her as a guest until then. However, he has to tell all of his neighbors they are mates as a cover story.
Elise looks so different from all of the other females on Meeri. They all believe she is a maned lioness.
Meanwhile, Elise realizes Meeri is a much better world to live on, and Ja-rael is a good being. She sees his love of children/babies and selflessness with his patients. She begins to develop feelings for him. She plots seduction to get him to be interested in her again, and finally she succeeds in getting him in the sack again. She disables her birth-control implant and gets pregnant.
Ja-rael freaks out when he realizes she is pregnant and takes her to see his mentor. They scan her and see she is carrying twins. Twins are unheard of on Meeri where the birth-rate is very low let alone never having had multiple births. While traveling back to his home, Elise and Ja-rael are mobbed by people wanting to see the maned lioness pregnant with two babies.
Ja-rael hides Elise with his space ship where she stays through the end of her pregnancy. Ja-rael helps her give birth and his healing ability allows him to take some of her pain away as she gives birth to his children. They both admit they love each other and she wants to remain on Meeri.
The epilogue is a bunch of Meeri males following directions Ja-rael gave them to a location on Tor. Swap to POV of human women. They are the ones doing all the work while the one remaining man in their group is treated like a king by them. While working the ground to grow their food, the women suddenly drop their tools and walk into the jungle to find these cat men and have wild/crazed sex. The last scene of the book are the Meeri men proud of these beautiful women and the women discussing how they would love to get away from how they're living now and how these guys are all kind of sweet.
Well done Sci Fi romance. This was a human alien story. I thought at first that there was going to be serious info dumping but, even though the set up was a little clunky, the author got the info dump over with quickly and the story picked right up. I thought the set up of why Jareal was so desperate for a mate was well thought out and the alien culture was sufficiently alien to be interesting. I enjoyed the heroine even though she occasionally had some bad knee jerk reactions but at least she was aware of her mistakes and tried to fix them and she wasn't just being a bitch for the hell of it.
The hero was nice too although about halfway through the book we stopped getting much from his POV which made him not quite as well rounded as he started out to be. This was basically a relationship story. There were some sex scenes. I'd say 6 or so of them. They were sufficiently hot enough to be interesting but were not raunchy. The pheromone thing was interesting and fairly well set up as to the human angle. I would have liked to know how it fit into the alien (Meeran) physiology.
Pretty well written and the plot made sense. The ending was just a tad bit abrupt and at first I thought the epilogue was odd but at the end you saw how it fit with the story. I hope there are some sequels about the people in the epilogue because I would love to read more stories about this world.
Thanks for the recommendation Jacqueline! This was really a great book.
Elise is part of a group that has landed on a planet escaping an Earth that had been hit by meteorites. She's looking for food before she's allowed back at the compound. She goes to a stream and there sees Jarael, whose pheromones drive them drive them into each others' arms. He's a healer who is trying to make enough money for a bride that are in short supply. Now that's he's found Elise and they've had sex, he considers her his mate and he's taking her home. He thinks she's a lost tribe of maned lionesses. When he finds out she's from another planet entirely, he's not too happy but she's his mate so he'll live with it. He just lives with in a very cold shoulder, minimum contact way. Those parts of the book were a little heartbreaking. Elise is falling in love with him, but he keeps such a huge distance between them. They do eventually reconcile and although I sometimes don't like it when everything is forgotten and forgiven, this was handled really well.
Elise is probably one of *the* most annoying heroines I've ever read. EVER!! I wanted to punch her in the face...often. I wasn't even halfway through the book and considered giving it up because I didn't want her to have a happy ending!! I was convinced that she didn't deserve one, so annoying and argumentative and mercurial was she!!
I couldn't finish it. I skimmed, and upon reaching the end, I was glad I hadn't "powered through" and read the whole thing.
I am deeply sorry that I can't write a better review, but I wouldn't recommend this.
This book was a little hard for me to rate... There were many aspects of the novel that I liked and some others not so much... I am a sucker for feline aliens... And I love alien-human romances! And I was thrilled to know this was a very well rated novel and apparently loved by many. But sadly, some details kept it from being a full 5 stars.
WARNING: MARS NEEDS WOMEN/EROTICA/ROMANCE.
Good points: a) The introduction to the characters and how they meet is amazing. b) The aspect of the world building wasn't huge... But the cultural and physical differences were so well depicted that it enriched the characters and the world we're introduced to. c) The emotions and character developments are superb! From the moment they meet, to their exchanges, to their rivalry and attraction. d) The romance grows with exquisite pace. Not the sex... THE ROMANCE! This book does a stunning job at indicating the difference, no matter how quick it introduces us to their intercourse sessions... The reason is because it isn't only physical attraction, but also a hormonal one. Since Jarael exudes these pheromones that make Elise go into sexual overdrive. So Elise experiences confusion and a special transition from perfect uncontroled sexual chemistry to undeniable love. And it's beautifuly logical. e)The Miree are a very well constructed society. Everything from their costums, to their structure as a community and their behaviour is very satisfying. f) The sex scenes were amazing!!!! Bad points:
1) I didn't like that Jarael had almost non-existent dialogue. Although his personality justifies it... I still feel he was sort of an absent character. Which is dissapointing because he is the lead heroe... Some might counter this point with the fact that we get an abundant POV from his side... Even so, I still feel like he was missing in some very important scenes. 2) This brings us to Elise... Cause in Jarael's defense, if I screwed with Elise, I would also be hiding... I would leave my planet ASAP if need be. She's so... Annoying and unreachable! I truly couldn't connect with her.... 3) Secondary characters are charming but sadly irrelevant. 4)No real plot... No twists... (Overlooked by the romance) To conclude this review... A 4.0 I did enjoy the writer's style, the story and the HEA ending. I definitely recommend it for a rainy afternoon! I bid your farewell, and may your next reads be FAB!
This quick-paced sizzler of a romance can be finished in an afternoon. It starts out exciting and sexy with Ja'Rael finding Elise when she was hot from the heat from walking around in circles in the wood and decided to cool off on the stream. After Earth's devastation, Elise fled with other survivors to find a new home on an alien planet. She encounters Ja-Rael, a being much like her, but with distinct differences, the most prominent being his cat-like stripes and ears. Ja-Rael scarcely believes his eyes when he finds a legendary maned lioness. He takes her as his mate, surprised when Elise insists that she's not a lioness at all, only a survivor from a far-away place. They both fear their differences may be too overwhelming to overcome and their dream of a family impossible.
When you hit the middle it goes boring until near the end of the book. In the middle Ja'rael goes from trying to win her affection to ignoring her by trying to do what is best for her and then the reader gets 40% of the book being of the woman complaining and moaning about how unfair it all is. As I said a good beginning but the middle becomes dull and boring. But, THE EPILOGUE was very intriguing with another persons POV. A girl back on the habitat where Elise was and people from Ja'Rael looking for mates.
Well, that was just interesting. I kinda liked the idea of this story, or at least I thought I did until things actually started and then I was just shaking my head through the rest. I really did not like the main character, she was very selfish in a way, and I understand where she was coming from and she had every right to act the way she did because yeah, that's pretty messed up but she didn't even try to see from his point of view, and I guess that's what really bothered me. She judged him without even knowing him and then said he was judging her when really she was doing the exact same thing. I liked the idea of the scenery. It sound so beautiful and I actually wished I could see it as I was reading. I didn't really like all the sex, at first it was okay but by the time it was closing in on the end I just wanted to skip it all. It just wasn't hot anymore, and more just annoying. Anyways, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great.
im going back to my second love to get me out of my current book funk. sci fi romance!! i really liked this one other than the push pull for most of the book by both the h and H at different times.
I enjoyed this book pretty well. I will say upfront that if you can't stand an unrealistic lack of communication than this book is probably not for you as it's riddled with it from beginning till the end. I mean, it's almost ridiculous considering both these characters realize that they are alien to each other, literally and in terms of culture, background, personality, etc. They just can't bring themselves to be honest with each other or to even ask, "what do you mean by that, I'm not sure I understand". But, then I suppose, there would be no book. Regardless, I still enjoyed it and it's one of the better KO books, IMHO.
Quick Rundown: Plain Worn Out Chick is just so tired of trying to survive her groups relocation to a harsh new planet after they were the last to leave Earth before it's destruction. And it's fucking hot! She stumbles across Dude, an "Avatar" like Alien who turns out to be from this planet's sister planet and has staked everything in order to get a mate. The chemistry between the two is like a lightening bolt and no, it's not because they are soulmates- it's pheromones, baby. He starts determined to make her his. She determines to get through this so she can be returned to her fellow refugees. Both lose faith and what will become of the pair?
Characterization: This was done pretty well. I got a sense of who both characters were and where they were coming from. It's just a shame that they couldn't understand each other for so long but that's what the book is about. The Chick was kinda plain in that she couldn't be easily defined for me. She was just a regular joe trying to make the best out of her situation and "not deal" with the feelings that threatened to overcome her or her survival. Dude was more transparent. He was gentle, loving and truly kind. He had a deep seated need to help those less fortunate and was respected by all for it. He was desperate for a family, for someone to call his own and when he thought he'd made a mistake in choosing Chick, it was really heartbreaking. There is no Big Bad in this story as this book is purely about the relationship. Secondary characters were fine and inconsequential.
Plot: Again, this book is about the relationship. There's little to no action. It's more about the lack of communication and finding out what is going to come as a result. Thankfully, the ending is a happy one but, like with all KO books, extremely abrupt. Resolving the issues happens really fast, as in a few pages considering 99% of the book is about those issues. It's like the author just get's tired of writing a storyline so she's just compelled to wrap it all up as quickly as possible. It was particularly annoying with this book as I was so invested in the characters and the storyline. Why can't the author just give us 2 chapters at least to finish out the book? And there is an epilogue but the epilogue is about new characters in similar situation and it too, just ends. This epilogue came off to me as an "alternate beginning" to the storyline we just read and the author just slapped it in there for shits and giggles, from laziness, or for making the book longer. World building was just enough- I never felt like I didn't have a visual of anything. The sex scenes were hot and just enough of them.
Overall: A good book but if the ending had been paid any kind of attention to, it could have been 5 stars, not that I think the author gives a fuck- because clearly, she doesn't. I think this author just wants to write a new story as she's so prolific and ends all her books really abruptly. Is it a psychological issue? Is it about money? Who knows, but I do know that I won't ever go into reading a KO without knowing that I'll be disappointed in the ending and probably never have a 5 star from her. C'est la vie!

Rating: Contains explicit sexual content and graphic language. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
This book was alright. An ok alien book, but i wished i got to read more about elise and ja-rael's relationship. It seems that the author spent most of the book describing how they were ignoring each other, and i felt that the two main characters dont show much love for each other. Don't get me wrong, the author has good writing skills,.., i just wished she used it more for elise and ja-rael's relationship. all they did mostly was ignore each other, and have sex on other times. though it was a great move of affection when elise wanted ja-rael to have kids and a family. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE THAT LOVES A GOOD ALIEN KISNAPPING, AND A HOT ALIEN WHO GETS WHAT HE WANTS. WARNING: THIS BOOK MAY HAVE YOUR EYES GLUED WITH DESIRE TO THE BOOK....
spoilers if read forward.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED..
i loved how in the end elise has twins and everyones happy. even though i didnt get to read much on ja-rael and elise's relationship, i know that they will make a good family and parents together. Plus, who can resist a guy who can heal, is good with sex, is affectionate, adore kids, and has mad hunting skills. :D

I really love this author. She has great story ideas. The characters are developed. The heroines are strong not whiny helpless women. The only thing that stops me from giving five stars is that I feel cheated with the ending. A few more pages or an epilogue about the Hero and the heroine would have been nice.
I wasn't expecting this story to be so funny and interesting. Miss Anjou has a very freshening style of writing. I loved her funny side, she joked where you could least expect it.
Though I wish to see the HEA more than what it consists of in the book, it wasn't a deal breaker.
Such a frustrating read! The main characters spent so much time apart and pining and fighting that i didnt enjoy the book. Liked it at times but the constant arguments were super annoying.
The writing in this book was extremely addictive and I simply could not tear myself away from it. Which is how I ended up reading till 5 a.m., not even realizing the time at first. The story itself was a different matter altogether. In general it was good and might have been even better if not for one detail which just happens to be a peeve of mine. I absolutely loathe conflicts based on miscommunication, but sadly it was the main reason for every dispute between the characters.
“Whatever she’d thought, she reasoned, he’d done nothing to make her think otherwise.”
Basically, to sum all of the characters suffering up, one of them would assume something about the other, while the other would do nothing to elevate those assumption, because he or she was too busy coming to their own stupid conclusion, which resulted in the whole book full of completely unnecessary suffering. I could sort of see both of the characters points in every conflict, but it still did not make any of them any less stupid or pointless. The situation did seem to improve towards the end, but then the story just..ended, giving no real conclusion to anything. At first I thought that it was the chapter ending, because there was an epilogue and I thought "well, okey, we will get our conclusion here". But we did not. The epilogue was about completely different characters, starting a story that does not seem to have any follow up for it. So, even if you take aside all of my rumbling about the conflicts between the characters (because it may very well work for others), the ending itself left me utterly unsatisfied.
Gostei bastante!
Compelling at first but there was little interaction with the couple by the end. Guy avoids girl because his work is so important, girl gardens her anger away, guy continues to avoid her, girl decides to turn off her birth control and have a KID with him. Then the guy, after being cold and angsty, suddenly changes after realizing the hybrid in her womb is actually twins and female. As in change I mean he doesn't try to avoid her. I felt very little chemistry between the couple and the ending felt rushed.

The hero was alright, but the heroine was horrendous - petulant, self-centered, judgmental, moody and sulky, with no inner growth. And what an unpleasant, unsuited, uncommunicative couple they were! The only chemistry between them was sexual due to his potent pheromones; when they weren't having sex they were either arguing or avoiding each other. With a chapter or so to go she was still barricading her bedroom door against him. This was not a romance in the least, and their happy-ever-after rang false.
This was a really enjoyable read, yeah there was stacks of sex, but I loved the characters, well I loved Ja-Rael, I only just liked Elise. I did get a little confused at the epilogue and thought I was reading another entire story preview.
I liked the beginning of this book, but the middle was boring. Nothing really happens, and in reality this book is just a mills & boons romance with aliens instead.
Holy alien sex! The thing that struck me the most is not the weirdness of it but the focus on misconceptions, misunderstandings and compromises when there is a merging of two people from completely different cultures.
It's an human / alien romance . The setting is rather classic in this genre : females (lioness) are too rare on Ja'rael's planet. And he's determined to find a mate and have children before it's too late for him. He's going to find an human rescapee: Elise. But it was nicely done. We get to see Elise and Ja'real point of views. I loved it because it just showed better how Ja'real was desesperate to find a mate, not just possess one but respect and adore one. We saw how his culture, his whole society was so different from Elise's. He is not just a man who live on another planer and growl sexily. They had so much difficulty to find their way toward each others because they are so different.
Now, sadly, I must point out what disappointed me in this book.
- The cover : I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover but... WHY ? This cover doesn't do any justice to the story. I'm sure a lot of potential readers ignore this book because of it. It's a shame.
- The ending : [ spoilers here]

Eow.
I'm honestly not sure why I decided to read this since the synopsis already has 2 things I'm not fond of listed in it (capturing/ kidnapping women and irresistible insta-mate-bonds), and I know I find the author rather hit and miss for my tastes. I think I shall plead temporary insanity and needing something, practically anything, to get me one step closer to completing this years book challenge.
Overall a rather average "Mars needs women" concept fleshed out with some disappointingly thin and poorly designed worldbuilding.
If I could I would give this a 3.5. The concept is a bit cliche but good: girl meets alien, love at first sight (in a way) and they're whisked away.
Elise is a reasonable kind of character and if something doesn't make sense she will say so; she often gets more confident when she settles into new situations. Ja-Rael is quite an interesting character, he's an alien healer, fairly docile and considerate but if he gets angered he doesn't stay docile.
I really enjoyed the first half/first two quarters of this book, I just couldn't put it down. I particularly liked how Ja-Rael started calling Elise "Jane" and then "Leez". The interaction between these two main characters was entertaining and cute. Ja-Rael thinking she was a maned lioness was adorable. Although the realization was a bit disappointing, but to be expected.
The sex scenes, yeah, let's talk about those. They were kind of hot but quite repetitive after a while; Ja-Rael gets turned on, Elise gets turned on because he's turned on, total focus on sex and problems are put on hold, in and out in a few paragraphs and three orgasms later. They explore a bit more as the book goes on, but to the best of my memory, it's all in missionary position.
About the later part of the book, it kind of just went downhill for me due to various reasons.
Overall this book was good to start but didn't pull through as well as it should have. Side note: the epilogue has nothing to do with the main story, it's more of a teaser for something else.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
So I read this book because I read a review for a different book, saying that it was the 3rd book in this series and that this one should be read first. But now that I have finished it, I can't find anymore books about these characters, or that it was ever a series to begin with. What the heck?! I can't find the book I was originally looking at.
Ja'Rael comes across Elise on accident. He originally went to the planet of Tor to sell the beasts he spent so much time trapping. He intended to make enough money to finally be able to pay the high price for a mate. But he stumbles upon Elise shortly after arriving to Tor. Elise is from a group of human settlers who crashed on Tor. Life isn't a very happy time at the moment since they are all just trying to survive in the hot environment of Tor. When she first meets Ja'Rael she feels such an intense attraction she can't stop herself from assaulting him, or it would be assault if Ja'Rael wasn't feeling the same way.
The thing that sort of annoyed me with this book was Elise, for one. She was so judgmental and harsh. When she was at the market with Ania, Ania said she had a kind heart or something like that. But I didn't get it because Elise was not very friendly. She was scowling and rude to Ania over and over. Ania touched her hair and Elise got mad. She eventually calmed down, but she was still extremely snippy. I did not see how anyone would like Elise.
Another thing that annoyed me was Elise and Ja'Rael were never on the same page until the very end of the book and then it was over after like a page of them accepting each other. It was so frustrating. At first I felt bad for Ja'Rael because he shackled himself such a judgmental, unbending, loose cannon of a woman. She would think one thing and you would think she was finally understanding his POV, but then he would say something to make her mad and she would spout off things that contradicted what she had just come to terms with.
But THEN, I was angry with Ja'Rael because he had no gumption. He took this woman from her people and they barely get to his planet and he decides it was the wrong thing to do, so he basically ignores her for the rest of the book. He shows little glimpses of compassion and interest, but it never lasted and it left me feeling unsatisfied by the end of the book.
I liked the world she created though. And I liked the differences they had to overcome, so I was really hoping to read about new couples on this world. I'm disappointed that I can't find any more books. Maybe I'm missing them because she has a buttload of books written and she has written under two different names but dang it, the whole reason I read this book was because of a review I read on another book that I wanted to read.
I like the style of writing, this was a first for my by the author and i thought it creative and entertaining.
I found myself to be hostile towards Elise often throughout the entire story. I get that she has reason to behave the way she does in the begining but she makes no attempt to understand from Ja'Raels point of view, and doesn't try to explain and make him understand from her point of view in a non hostile manner. I read another review that said that this bothers that reader as well, but she found it 'ok because she felt bad afterwards', i don't agree with that, although she feels contrite and ashamed of herself afterwards and realizes her mistakes in the way she acted and things she said she makes no effort to appologize or explain in a civilized manner, so that makes it not ok. Elise does things without thinking, comes to snap judgements, and assumes so many things that it set my nerves on edge. Her thoughts are often assumptions of things Ja'Rael is thinking or feeling towards her that are very plausible but seemed to me that she felt that he had no reason to think that way... for example at one point she's wondering why Ja'rael is keeping his distance from her and thinks 'he’d had enough time to get to know her to decide she just wasn’t his type?' ... well no shit Sherlock, if you're gonna bite his head off each time he opens his mouth and says something then why shouldn't he have a reason to decide your attitude wasn't to his liking? After one conversation Elise thinks that Ja'Rael thinks shes 'just a nasty selfish bitch!' even though he made no comment or reaction that would point in that dirrection but by this time the reader is (at least i was) so fed up with her stupidity and assumptions that we just roll our eyes and think 'well maybe if you stopped acting like one'. This is a constant theme in the whole story and it gets very tiering, she often goes off on rants within her mind and degrades herself in a manner that its what hes saying or thinking even though Ja'rael didn't say anything or even hint at thinking that way. Hindsight is 20/20 yet her lack of thinking even 20 seconds ahead is so annoying at times that i just wanted to strangle her.
