Teenagers should know that the faithful need not fear! Roger McKenzie knows firsthand that teenagers are unsure, even terrified about the events surrounding the Second Coming. He has personally talked to hundreds of teenagers about the events of the last days and has heard questions asked such "Will my family be okay?" "How can I know I’m ready?" "Have I repented enough?" "What will it be like if I’m still alive when the Savior comes again?" Relying on the scriptures, insight from Church leaders, and the effective way he connects with youth. Roger McKenzie helps fill a gap for teenagers who should know that the faithful need not fear.
It is *definitely* written with a younger teenage audience in mind. But, that's what I was expecting. . . . And, since it's the pre-teen me who was terrified out of her mind on the subject, the adult me can put up with a little "youth speak" and Jr. High experiences references to learn that there *is* hope.
I am pleased to say that I scored 6 out of 6 on the "Are You Ready" quiz in the last chapter . . . &:-) Of course, like life, it's an ongoing process kind of quiz, and I still have a lot to learn and many things to work on.
But, the good news is, when the thief comes in the night, I'll have a light on and a security system in place! &;-)
This is a short book about the Second Coming written especially for teenagers. Although it kind of skims over all of the events leading to the Second Coming, it still gives the reader an idea of future events. The last chapters tell what we should be doing to prepare. I especially liked his retelling of the 10 Virgins story and the story of Ananias and Sapphira. And I liked the chapter about gaining a strong testimony.
Justine got this book for Christmas, but it is a fast read and I read it in a few short hours. The author does a great job explaining the events surrounding the second coming, but one thing he does even better is making it sound like an event full of hope and not one to be feared. There were quite a few stories and analogies he used that I hope to use to teach my kids. Really liked it.
This is actually a 4 plus. It is written with a focus on teenagers and is simplified in relation to other books written about the 2nd coming. I read it at the same time I was reading Jacob 5 in the Book of Mormon. That was very interesting to see the parallels.
Great for teenagers! Good info- I will save it for my kids. Adults- you can do much better. Read "The coming of the Lord" for an awesome non-fiction book on the second coming!
