In the very beginning there was the idea for a book on the visual culture around techno music and the entrepreneurial spirit to make this book happen without being a company, publisher or even having much of a budget. The book was called „Localizer 1.0“ and once it was printed it became obvious that there was interest – or in other words a market – for this kind of content and a fresh approach to it. Based on that feedback and potential, Gestalten was founded as a company.
Hands down my favourite design book. It's a slice of 90's dance music culture, music, fashion and design perfectly captured together in a single book. It even features an advert for The Designers Republic!
