i decided to read this book because i like the nancy drew novels very much and i needed to fill the graphic novel category on the reading log.
but i have to only give it one star as it was very confusing
this fills the the graphic novel category on my reading log.
my favourite quote from the book is 'and you helped a total stranger who tried to kill you' i liked it as it shows that we can be nice to all people even if they don't like you. maybe it will change their mind
something new i learned from this book is that you shouldn't be too curious as it might get you in trouble.
nancy drew is an interesting character as nothing stops her she is continuously curious.
Nancy doesn't understand why Ned is upset she's spent the past weeks going on to dinner and holding hands with another guy. She also is forgetful and doesn't do anything remotely useful to solve this crime. Not how Nancy Drew should be portrayed.
And with this volume I finish my foray into Nancy Drew graphic novels. The characters come off as so flat, the art isn't engaging, and lets be honest really gimmicky. I love vampires as much as the next girl, but this wasn't the way to add them into Nancy Drew.
I hated this so much. There is so much good stuff out there for kids and YAs I don't understand why so much bad stuff survives. The art isnt done well in book one there is a panel where Nancy isn't even colored fully. The story wasn't edited with care: in book 2 a thought bubble reveals the name of the muster character a full 20 pages before we are supposed to get the answer. The mystery is the whole point of a Nancy Drew story and they tank the whole thing by adding in the name too soon! It feels like no one cared about the production of this book. There are better things out there to read.
“I get so caught up in mysteries I tend to forget basic life maintenance.” Really?!? This does not make an enjoyable protagonist or positive role model.
Nancy finds herself locked in Gregor's house with her friends outside fearing for her safety, they do not know Gregor's secret is not that he is a vampire but that he has a stalker that thinks he is. The stalker has been chasing him from town to town and has finally caught up with him sticking Nancy in the middle of this situation. While trying to protect Gregor from the stalker, her friends are outside trying to save Nancy. Is it mistaken identity or a brainwashing gone bad? Will Ned get over his jealousy and realize Nancy just wants to be friends with Gregor? Will Gregor show his true feelings to Nancy? These questions are answered but more questions are brought up in this second volume of Nancy Drew: Vampire Hunter.
This is the second book in the New Case Files series and continues the story where Nancy is checking out Gregor, a guy that may or may not be a vampire. Gregor also has a personal problem in that someone has been stalking him everywhere he goes and is intent on killing him. Nancy has re-entered the mansion but gets trapped with Gregor and the stalker while Bess and the others are outside, trying to rescue her.
Ned is also getting to be very jealous of Gregor, thinking he and Nancy are getting too close. Nancy has to find out the truth about Gregor and, at the same time, avoid him or her being killed by the stalker. It turns out to be a good story.
Okay, it has boyfriend/girlfriend in it (Ned and Nancy of course), so possibly a bit precocious for the not quite 7-year-old I was reading it to; but she seemed intrigued by the story and friendships (George and Bess) as well as the mystery set up (no actual villain here . . . something else!). Feel like I missed a chance to talk about the different types of twins -- but what the heck, J never brought it up; and I'm sure there will be further opportunities (heck, maybe she already knows all about it!).
This is of course part 2 of a two-part story, so don't miss the previous book.
Not really happy with the Nancy Drew in the graphic novels lately, especially these. Poorly written mystery and Nancy is all scatterbrained and can't remember to charge her phone or get gas which I think is totally different from the Nancy I grew up with, she wasn't like that at all, now I'm like that....
I love Nancy drew and that she has moved into the modern age. However. Vampires? Really? Could one come between Ned and Nancy? The cliff hanger of Ned with Deirdre is brutal . The twist that Gregor's stalker is his long lost twin sister is great and something I did not see coming.

Ohh, the plot thickens and Ned is SO jealous! How will Nancy get out of this one? This wraps up part one quite nicely and Nancy maintains her integrity, despite what that lurid cover may imply...
The new Nancy Drew is really great. I loved the old books but this Graphic Novel series will definitely get some girls to be fans of the favorite sleuth.
