About the author

Phillip Robert Vischer is an American voice actor, puppeteer, writer, animator and songwriter known for creating the animated video series "VeggieTales" with partner and friend Mike Nawrocki.

From 1993 to 2002, Vischer led the company as lead director and writer. In 2003 (after the release of "Jonah") Big Idea went bankrupt, and Vischer sold the company to Classic Media and left the company.

In 2005 he started Jellyfish Labs a new creative workshop where he produces faith-based projects. Starting in 2010, Vischer produced "What's In The Bible," a direct-to-DVD video series using puppetry and animation to present biblical material.

A weekly podcast discussing life in a post-Christian America co-hosted by Phil Vischer, Skye Jethani and actress Christian Taylor, ranks in the top 100 podcasts regularly.

This was a hit at story-time today for pre-schoolers! They enjoyed how silly each shape would be as a wheel!

Great for teaching shapes. It shows us shapes in unusual places, prepare to answer questions.

Usually Veggietale books are very religious. This one happens to be quite secular which I found surprising.

The story is about Pa Grapes and he is looking for the correct shaped tires for his car. So of course they go through all the different shapes to see what fits.

The story is told in Rhyme. The pictures coincide with the story but the print is rather small leading to the assumption that an adult would be reading this to a child instead of the child reading it on his or her own.

God was mentioned once in the entire story, which again, I found surprising.

Overall, I say that this was a decent book worth reading to a child. It leaves room for a lot of interaction where you can help the young reader identify shapes.

I did not realize this was a veggitales book when I requested it, nor did I realize how physically small the book was going to be.
That being said I am giving this book four stars as it was very simple and easy to read, the concept was good and I like how it described the various features of shapes and why they would not work as a tire. The illustrations weren't bad with decent detail but not too much and good use of color.
