Interesting and rather academic tome on the history of Asian communties in the Caribbean. There are essays on indentureship, trade unionism, the role of women, cricket and "Caribbean Man". The main body of work deals with Trinidad and Guyana, but there are essays on Surinam and jamaica as well. There is also a section of poetry which fits slightly unesaily with the rest of the book. Published in the mid 80s and dealing with the 70s and before the work does at time feel out of date, but nevertheless it was revealing and at times provocative.
I think this was released around the 150th anniversary of Indians (including my ancestors) migrating to Guyana in the 1850s. Again I don't seem to have this book any more, but would love to get hold of it again
