Ranging from the playful to the profound, a handbook of questions and topics allows fathers to reveal their personal history and lets children increase their understanding of their fathers. 20,000 first printing. $25,000 ad/promo. Tour. IP.
The author poses a plethora of questions that he would like to ask his father - if he were still alive. These questions range from the very basic to the very profound. I wish that I knew the answers to these questions from my father prior to his passing and realize the lost opportunity to have broached them with him. However, I think the exercise of thinking what questions to have asked your parents to which their answers cannot be presumed is a good one for all of us children. I will have my children read this book so they can ask me questions that they may have felt uncomfortable asking or bringing up topics that they may have felt awkward for me to discuss.
This is a nice collection of questions. Some questions are specifically written as if from a son to a father, but many of the questions could be used to "interview" anybody. The important thing is not to find the perfect collection of questions, but to just use any set of questions to start having conversations with people.
