Looking at the small number of ratings for this book, one can see why the short story market is so dead, but science fiction fans should dig this out. Harrison and Aldiss are crafty in their selections that cover Astounding from 1937 to 1946. They show how editor John W. Campbell transformed the magazine from a typical ‘30s pulp into his own brand of harder science fiction that would become the model for Analog.
