This book was ok. There were a couple twists with finding out who would perform for the show. But it just isn’t well written. The adventures obviously are fantasy but they’re just a little too unbelievable. Like heather was gone for days and no one in the adventure world questioned where her parents were or her belongings or even a change of clothes. It’s just a bit much.

Heather time-traveling to the 1950s is the equivalent of a child right now time-traveling to the 1980s, and that is... difficult to process.

This story requires more suspension of disbelief than many other Magic Attic books, since Heather is involved in a multi-day trip and competition after traveling through the attic. The book moves along quickly, without any attention to her situation as a child traveling without her parents or a change of clothes, but it's a perfectly fine read for the target audience.

Absolute favorite. Maybe because it took me years to finally own it. And then I gave it to a girl I babysat who I adored who totally deserved it. Go figure.
1950s. Bye bye birdie vibes. Showcases Heather's dream of stardom.
