When I was a kid, I devoured my brother's Boy Scouts manuals and was so jealous I couldn't join; I envisioned myself someday living off the land a la Thoreau or Lewis and Clark. This reads like a paranoid BoyScout manual. I actually read it a few years ago; it's widely available for download on the iPhone. Some practical info, mix of some very common sense as well as more sophisticated advice.
