I am an Australian children's writer of fiction and nonfiction, including picture books, information books, poems, articles and short stories. Some of my books have been recognised for awards, including the Wilderness Society Environment Award for Children's Literature and Whitley Awards.
A former zoologist and zookeeper, I most often write about animals and nature-related topics. I hope to encourage a love of reading, learning and nature in my readers.
I live in Melbourne, Australia with my husband, daughter and big, black dog, Banjo.

Series Review: Weird, Wild, and Wonderful
"This series is well organized. Each book, except Frogs, contains a “fact file” that are charts with various information...All the books in the series have “fact bites” located throughout the books. These “fact bites” provide interesting facts about the animals in the book and are in bright yellow boxes to catch the reader’s eye. This nonfiction series will appeal to children with the wonderful photography and eye-catching format."
