This book was not what I had expected. Classified as a romance...not really in my mind. Andie and Ryder have known each other for almost their entire lives. They are so close they refer to themselves as best friends.
Without thinking they spend the night together and Andie gets pregnant. Minton alludes to this night together but doesn't go into details, making this a clean...very clean romance novel. Which is fine. There is nothing wrong with skipping over the deed, but Minton skipped over a lot

Recommends it for: those interested in contemporary issue romance and best friends fall in love
The theme of “best friends falling in love” is not the easiest to carry off. The writer must be able to show why the hero and heroine are friends, why they have stayed only friends, and then turn that friendship on its ear by having them fall in love. But Brenda Minton didn’t stop there in The Cowboy’s Sweetheart. Her characters find themselves wondering about the ramifications of friendship turned into something far more complicated than romance. While inspirational novels have dealt with “secr ...more

I just adore Brenda Minton's "Cowboy" series, so when I saw The Cowboy's Sweetheart at the library this week, I snatched it up. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Andie and Ryder. I'm not sure I totally understand how they ended up in this particular predicament, but I enjoyed seeing how they dealt with it. They both have plenty of baggage from their past--no thanks to their parents' mistakes. Andie is fiercely independent and doesn't want to "need" anyone. Ryder is determined he's not going t ...more

Usually I love Minton's books, but this one really fell flat for me. The plot line felt choppy and awkward, especially the beginning. It's possible that the novel intended to have an awkward mood since the circumstances made Andie and Ryder uncomfortable around each other, but it didn't seem to be well done, and Andie's mood swings, even though she's pregnant, seemed unrealistic because she refused share how she was feeling but then would suddenly smile sweetly at Ryder. The quick change was har ...more

The Cowboy's Sweetheart is Brenda Minton's latest offering from Love Inspired. The story of a couple who surrender to a forbidden pleasure and must now face the consequences of their actions was touching. Both the hero and the heroine have substantial issues to work through before they can acknowledge their feelings for one another. I enjoyed the book tremendously and did not want to put it down. The banter between the hero and heroine are priceless and the journey from friendship to love is hea ...more

When I read Alyson's story, and got to get a glimpse of Andie, I was hopeful that her story would be told in this series. I'm glad that it was. I liked how both she and Ryder needed to figure out how to redefine their relationship once it stepped beyond 'best friends' (even if that step was an unintended one), and how they realised that only with God's help would it be possible to create the family He wanted for them.

Andie finds herself pregnant, with her best friend Ryders's, baby. She turns to her newfound faith instead of to her friendship with Ryder. He proposes marriage for all the wrong reasons, and he will have to say three little words before she will say yes. THis book was better than the last one I read by this author. I liked that there was a consequence to their actions. and I liked that they had to face their true feelings BEFORE they got married.

Better than most. This one deals with mistakes and friendship. Andie Forester has been Ryder Johnson's best friend since kindergarten. Suddenly their relationship changes in a big way after they take things too far. Will their friendship survive their love?

Brenda Minton’s novel, The Cowboy’s Sweetheart, is a story of love with a very real, very involved flare of exitement and romance mixed with forgiveness. I enjoyed my “journey” along with the main characters Mrs. Minton described so well.

I didn't like this one at all. Found it morally unfit as there was no repentance or even the slightest thought of following God's will only the heroins.

Brenda Minton lives, procrastinates, writes, drinks coffee, raises her kids and is wife to her husband, in the Ozarks.

Okay, now to first person because a third person bio sounds like someone else wrote it about me, and is just license to create flowery prose about myself.

I grew up on a farm in the Ozarks. It was long ago and far away, in a land before cable TV, video games and the internet. To pas
