A beautiful book! It does feel strongly located in the 1990s in terms of language and politics but so much is still relevant today. Some stories I will definitely return to and re-read in future. Would recommend.

I started this book when my life was happier. Then I left it for months (over a year actually!). And then I picked it up again and the latter stories were just what I needed at a time when life felt like it had gone so pear-shaped that there wasn't even a pear to look at. I thank these wonderful women who wrote these stories and I'd love for you to know that I feel them, I understand them, and in many ways, I am them right now.
