This book is very helpful for how to do basic statistical tests in SPSS. The examples the authors use are mostly derived from cartoons like Gary Larson's Far Side, which end up being slightly ridiculous (how do the number of complaints Santa receives each month correlate with the rate at which he fires them?), but they make thinking about some of this more complex stuff easier. I will mostly definitely be using this for my thesis and am thankful to have such a thorough and easy-to-understand step-by-step approach to SPSS.
