"I do not need a guardian, monsieur!"

Beth was over eighteen. She bitterly resented Gaetan Vernais's insistence that she accompany him to Paris and remain under his protection until she was twenty-one and came into her inheritance.

Happy as Beth was with her little flat and low-paying job in England, Gaetan viewed it as a squalid existence. His friendship with her deceased u

Really hate to say this 'cuz I'm a fan, but PW's writing was surprisingly not that riveting here. I guess I've been spoiled 'cuz her heroes almost always have an intense fixation on the heroines & just wouldn't take no for an answer. I dunno what's lacking in this book, maybe the stiff, formal dialogues, or the corpe-to-corpse chemistry between H/h, or maybe it's the role reversal of heroine chasing the passive - aggressive hero. The poor, besotted French chap tries in vain to resist the attract ...more

Heiress-to-thousands Beth is working at a high-end London bookstore and living in a grotty bedsit. She’s rather worried about rent, since her allowance has been cut off, and her job, because she has ‘the virus’ and her boss disapproves of the infected at work. Disappointingly, ‘the virus’ isn’t the zombie flu.

At any rate, Beth no longer has worries about job, bedsit or the eventual sex demands of her biker (sort of) boyfriend, because her guardian Gaetan, the French autocrat, and international f

not as good as some of the other Patricia Wilson novels, but good enough. Yes, the hero and the heroine were bickering in almost every chapter; but it served to emphasise the point that the H and the h were trying really hard to deny their feelings in a manner appropriate to their ages. Also, it was refreshing to have a heroine who's certain of her feelings and all but reveals her affection for the hero on several occasions. And it was wonderful when they finally do give in to their emotions and ...more

Though I am a huge fan of this author's work, this one just didn't do it for me. Frankly, I'm surprised I even finished it.

The H/h were just cardboard, superficial characters that were hard to connect with. It was also one major bickerfest and I was confused because they never stayed on point. They would jump around, then change sides and finally reconcile all in less than a page. At one point, I remember feeling.."Not again, now what are they arguing about?" Instead of getting that intense con

"Beloved Intruder" is the story of Beth and Gaeten.
A guardian/ward- May/December romance, this tells the tale of orphaned Beth, who is unwillingly taken in by Gaeten- her late uncle's friend and whisked away to France.
Gaeten is a world famous fashion designer, and as Beth enters his life after a long chase- he is enchanted by her beauty.
Soon starts one of the longest push/pull romance where h is jealous of OW, H keeps pushing h towards OM, there is forced affection towards OM/OW to make each oth

A little lacking in action but I enjoyed it nonetheless because the heroine was such a sweetheart. She was nineteen going on twenty but she was treated like a much younger child for most of the book, I guess because he was her guardian. Still, I liked that she acted, well, basically like a little angel. I don't like hostile, sniping heroine behavior, especially when it's unwarranted. Beth was very sweet and gentle and Gaetan was quite lovelily in love with her.

Definitely one of the better Guardian/Ward novels I have read. I liked Gaetan, he was a powerful male character and you could tell he had feelings for Beth, almost instantly. I was happy with the way the story turned out. It was definitely worth the read.

This book was a bit of a slow burn for me. I initially found the first and some of the middle part a tad slow. But after that it finally got a little interesting and exciting and then yay happy ending lol. I actually listened to this book using a TTS app with a British accent (highly recommend lol) which I do when I'm driving. The only con is im never able to finish the book that way and I have to read the book the old fashioned way after because it's faster! Initially I was turned off by listen ...more

I couldn't do any better than boogenhagen's review . It has a lot of spoilers, so be warned. Over all, it was a nice "sweet" story, but I got a little frustrated with the whiplash emotions both of the MCs displayed. ...more
