I'm not a nurse but I am the patient. While there were definitely aspects which were over my head, this helped to see the research behind protocols. This also pointed out some procedures which were based on anecdotal rather than scientific research and encouraged the nursing staff to push for change that aligned with science rather than tradition when it was clearly better for the patient. This will help me ask better questions and be a bit more familiar with what is going on.
