Wilbert Vere Awdry, OBE, better known as the Rev. W. Awdry, was an English clergyman, railway enthusiast and children's author, and creator of Thomas the Tank Engine, who starred in Awdry's acclaimed Railway Series.

The characters that would make Awdry famous, and the first stories featuring them, were invented in 1943 to amuse his son Christopher during a bout of measles. The first book (The Three Railway Engines) was published in 1945, and by the time Awdry stopped writing in 1972, The Railway Series numbered 26 books. Christopher subsequently added further books to the series.

This book will make kids excited to read. If someone loves trains, or Thomas, (every young boy, ever) then they are going to be excited to read this book. This book also has great illustrations and a unique take on math. If the fun theme isn't enough it also has these exciting pull tabs where children will enjoy to reveal the math problem. Overall this book I would love in my classroom.

I think this book is absolutely perfect for kids. It is so interactive and fun to read! There are so many different things involved with each page for the kids to look at. I loved how the book would ask questions and have the readers find certain things and count various objects on each page. I definitely recommend this book for all children. I loved it!

I think this book would be good for children because they love Thomas and also I liked the visuals. It is very clever to have to math problems on the side where you can pull them and find the answer. Children would love this!

I think this book is really amazing because it has parts that you can pull the card out to see the result of the calculation. Moreover, it is really colorful. It also allows you to count and find objects in the pictures. It is really nice for kids to use it to learn math or grow interest in it.
