An excellent summary of all the factors at play in he disputed election of 1800. Fair and judicious, his book also provides a first-rate summary of the politics of the 1790s. It would be great for use in an upper-level undergraduate course on this era.

This is a thoughtful look at the election of 1800. Sharp provides good analysis of why it came to happen that the House of Representatives had to break the Electoral vote tie.
