Time Life Books does a superb job in summarizing the key points of the Wehrmacht's ostentatious advance into the heart of Western Russia utilizing their superb "Bewegungskrieg" (aka "Blitzkrieg) tactics. This is my 4th book read in the 21 book Third Reich Series by Time Life Books. Of course, I am inspired to move on to my fifth book which I am choosing to be "The Road to Stalingrad."

What I really like about the series is that it focuses on the Third Reich, but it is richly supplanted with Time Life's historic photographs, some of them published for the first time, in both color and black and white. The reader really gets a feel of the history which is nicely organized between text and vignettes of stories that focus on either a person, military campaign or weapon.

Another great piece of work Time Life Books!

This is the first volume of Time-Life Books series The Third Reich that I've read. Content wise the book has everything you would expect from a Time-Life book; a general overview of the topic and great archival photos. This volume covers the first six months of the German campaign on the Soviet Union.
