Psychology, Canadian Edition

Rate this book

Bernstein, Penner, Clarke-Stewart, and Roy's, Psychology strikes an ideal balance between classic and current research, and contains substantial material on culture and human diversity, as well as updated coverage of behavioral genetics and evolutionary psychology. This text's complete learning program offers instructors, both experienced and novice, a "one-stop teaching" tool. In the Seventh Edition of this comprehensive, research-oriented text, the authors explore the full range of psychology, free from theoretical bias; blend conceptual discussion and description of research studies; foster scientific attitudes and help students learn to think critically; present lessons in a clear, accessible, and readable style; and demonstrate that psychology is an integrated discipline in which each subfield is linked to other subfields by common interests and overarching research questions.

It is great book about the psychology overall. I never knew that there are so many branches, that psychology is more about the science (even though it is not science, I agree). I rented this book from UofT Bookstore, but then I purchased it for damn high price. But I love it. I read it 3 times (because I had to prepare for my exam, but let's assume it is not the case) and totally obsessed with this book how precise the topics are, how interesting examples provided in each topic!

I enjoyed this class but it was a busy season in my life and I felt like the book moved very quickly. I did not appreciate the 'study' questions because they were presumptuous and did not offer concrete data to pull from. I would have preferred to take this class in a brick and mortar classroom where more difficult matters could be discussed at length.

This textbook bounces around simple points and gives endless examples for simple concepts, making the chapters long and difficult to conquer while studying. This textbook is saved by the corresponding study guide.
