The book is very well written. I was entertained by the seriousness and history of life in those days. I also liked the comedy lines. I was so into the characters that I shed a tear when the older ones passed away. From a very young age this author helped his family make a living just like a team player. I suggest this book that is memoirs of a small boy growing to adulthood. There are short stories about the clothes they wore, the foods they ate, the way people of that era farmed, life during the 1930's depression and life on the home front during WWII. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes history and true life stories.

This is a story of hope and courage.

This book bring us back to the time of depression, uncertainty when everyone straggle to live and protect their family . How people show courage to be alive. An experience not all of us had known.
