After a move out of the big city to escape heartbreak, photographer Katherine Thomas embraces life in a new town. With her two best friends by her side, she's ready to start over and not look back. During her first major exhibition at a legitimate art gallery, Kate expects the inevitable nerves, but what she doesn't anticipate is meeting someone who—with one glance—leaves her breathless. What happens when the charming mystery man disappears, leaving Kate wanting more? Without even knowing his name, the odds of finding him again are stacked against her. Will fate intervene, and if it does, will her old wounds prevent her from acting on the undeniable connection she feels?
Elizabeth makes her home in Delaware with her husband and spends the day with her three loves, her children and her writing. With her strong adoration for the East Coast as her foundation, she penned her first novel, Stitches & Scars, a delicious romantic comedy.
In her spare time, she enjoys taxiing her kids to every activity under the sun, baking enough to make Betty Crocker proud and finding inspiration for her writing in even the most mundane of circumstances.
Awwwwwww, I am still smiling from this book. Stitches and Scars is not my usual type of book but every now and then I need a nice dose of adult romance and this book was perfect for it.
While it was predictable, it didn't matter because it was exactly what I was looking for. Fun, sexy and ever so sweet. This book taught me a couple of things too - like shoppinng for fruit can be HOT (especially strawberries) and how romantic a penny walk is.
Thanks Tina for the rec, I enjoyed every minute of it!
I was very lucky (not to mention, excited) when I received the email from GoodReads stating I'd won a copy of Stitches and Scars. Regardless of if I'd won or not, I had planned on picking up a copy but this made me bump it up to the number 1 spot on my TBR. I dove in as soon as my copy arrived in the mail. I had a million things going on the past couple of weeks and it took me longer than I would have liked to finish reading it. It was too good and I didn't want to put it down when I had to.
Kate Thomas is probably the funnest, most well rounded character I've read in a while. Perhaps I feel that way because she sort of reminds me of myself in some ways. When she meets Ethan Montgomery she is instantly drawn to him but doesn't believe he feels the same for her.
Kate has an awesome support system in her two best friends, Elle and Sophie. They work to try to prove to her she should go after Ethan, even after she finds out some news that she finds disappointing. Both girls are sassy and fun. Probably one of my other favorite parts about Stitches is you get to see Elle and Sophie in their own relationships as well. It's like a three in one deal ;)
After running into Ethan several times Kate finally finds out the truth about him and their love affair gets off the ground. They are adorable and sweet together, even through the rough patches, you just know everything will work out for them.
I don't want to give away more than what little I already have. It's always nice to read something with a happy ending that isn't full of drama and angst (don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of that too haha). I felt like I got to know these characters, like they are now friends of mine. You should definitely grab Stitches and Scars and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Stitches and Scars is about fate stepping in when your heart needs a mending hand, and who better then a doctor to stitch your life back together from recovering old wounds.
This was another forever favorite of mine that I had the great pleasure of reading out in fandom, so when I found out that this was being published I was so exciting to add this gem to my collection!
I loved this book even more then when I originally read it. It has such a sweet romantic happy feel to it that I couldn't help but gush all over again. From the author that changed the way I look at fruit for the rest of my life, Elizabeth Vincent pens the perfect love story filled with angst, passion and laughter that is irresistible, sexy and fun.
Love, love, love this book! Congrats Elizabeth on a Memorable and Fantastic Debut!
Wasn't able to finish. Ethan sounded kind of adorbable, but the story didn't go anywhere for me. There wasn't really even any conflict. It was more like a friend telling you how she met her boyfriend, but for however many hours it takes to read the book. And the friend is really a stranger that you can't find it in ya to really care how she met her boyfriend.
I loved this book from the first page to the last. The love and passion that Ethan & Kate was Palpable. The sisterhood among the three girlfriends was so wonderful I wish I could have been a part of it. I highly recommend this book.
Stitches and Scars read as a predictable, light-hearted, fluffy, romantic comedy. It was a perfect fairy-tale involving three perfect young women, all best friends, living seemingly perfect fairy-tale lives, pursuing & enjoying their dream jobs, while hooking up with perfect fairy-tale boyfriends. And this is in no way a bad thing. After all, isn’t this why we read, to escape reality & find ourselves engrossed in a fairy-tale? Let me begin by saying I loved the plot & characters (especially Dr. Hottie!). There were similarities to many of my other favorite books, which made reading this even more enjoyable (they say imitation is a form of flattery and I agree). And, I admit, I’m a sappy romance lover and a sucker for HEAs. That being said, there were a few things missing for me that would have made this a five-star review instead of a four. For starters, there were too many changes in point of view within each chapter as well as throughout the entire story. Either one POV throughout the book or alternating POVs for each chapter would have made this better for me. I would side more with the latter, since I loved having insight into both Kate’s and Ethan’s thoughts. Secondly, this world was just a bit too perfect, too fairy-tale-ish, a little (just a little) more angst would have raised the bar for me (I love a good angsty story). Thirdly, smut. I’m a smut lover, I just can’t help it. Blame it on 50 Shades. What can I say other than it’s addictive, so a little more of Ethan and Kate, ahem, if you know what I mean would have made it even better for me. But I can say whole heartedly that I will never be able to grocery shop again without thinking of this book. In fact, the produce department is now my most favorite part of grocery shopping (I might have to take my husband there on a date sometime)! Lastly, although the main focus of the book was Kate & Ethan’s relationship, many side stories took place, which were a distraction for me from the main plot. Well, there you have it, the reason for my four-star review instead of a five. However, overall, the story was fabulous, the characters were loveable, and Ethan’s hotness factor was definitely a five out of five. This book is the perfect read for in between those truly angsty stories that make you want to very loudly scream and yell while throwing your Kindle, book, or whatever device you own against the nearest wall. Enjoy!
In Stitches and Scars, Kate enters the story realing from the heartbreak of her beat friend breaking up with her. When she meets a man who reawakens her senses, she must decide whether or not to let him into her life and risk being hurt again.
Stitches and Scars was very enjoyable to read. I liked that Ethan, Kate's love interest, is patient with her when he learns that she is still recovering from heartache, but there are times where he makes decisions without talking to Kate, like he thinks he knows better than her what she wants. Luckily, that does not last very long, and then we get to enjoy their relationship progressing.
I thought the way they kept running into each other in the beginning was slightly unrealistic, but it made for a fun plot. I enjoyed reading about Kate and Ethan getting to know each other, and their friends were a riot. The group as a whole seemed to be a fun and very supportive bund.
The little subplot of Kate's best friend Elle falling in love with her own love interest was fun, and their similar yet sometimes clashing personalities were amusing. Trent was a good match for her.
There were hints of danger in the book, though small, and the 'villains' made for entertaining reading. I really liked this book, and I would read it again.
On an artistic note, the cover for Stitches and Scars is one of my favorites. I love the simplicity of it and seeing how the images tie into the plot. The back cover is actually my favorite: I love the tree, and the font and placement of the blurb is very appealing to me. In my opinion, this publisher, Omnific Publishing, has some of the best covers.
I liked the idea behind this book. I enjoyed the "feeling" of it but I did not like how it was written. It seemed too contrived, too forced and throughout the entire thing I found myself questioning the dialogue. I always say the dialogue can make or break a book and it broke this one for me. If I'm constantly thinking, WHO talks like this? Well that's a pretty good indication that I'm not going to enjoy the book too much.
While I believed the infatuation, the love at first sight etc etc, I did not believe the conversations. It's shocking to me how a good dialogue is hard to find since everyone has them on a regular basis!
i'll make this short....this story reminds me of boycotts and barflies by victoria michaels (which i adore...thus giving it 5 stars) but why did i give it 2 stars only? i just didn't connect with the main characters ethan and kate....but i did like ethan's friend trent and kate's friend elle and their story. i think i would have enjoyed this more if the story was about trent and elle.....well, just saying.
Stitches and Scars follows Katherine Thomas, a photographer starting fresh in a new town with her two best friends. Their supportive and humorous friendship is a highlight, making it relatable and enjoyable. The story is light and funny, especially during Katherine’s first art exhibition, where she meets a charming mystery man. Their sweet romance adds to the charm of the book. Overall, this uplifting read captures the power of friendship and second chances, leaving you with a smile. It’s a delightful feel-good romance that’s perfect for anyone seeking a cheerful escape. 10/10 would recommend.
I found Stitches and Scars to be an engaging and enjoyable light romance. There were many aspects of the book that I found quite entertaining. Kate is a woman who has not had the best of luck with men. She has recently broken up with her boyfriend who just can't seem to make up her mind about their relationship. Scott, the ex-boyfriend, is also a long time best friend of Kate's, which makes the situation even more problematic. Scott keeps coming back, but then ultimately keeps breaking up with her. Kate is a complete mess. Ethan, an ER doctor, becomes entranced with Kate the moment he first sees her. She finds herself needing his services as a doctor in more that one instance.
Kate and Ethan feel an instant attraction and their romance blossoms. But love is never simple, especially for these two. Ethan is an ER doctor, but I don't believe that was the reason for the title of the book. As the reader we all take away a different aspect of the book. The title I believe tells us that life's situations may wound, we try to get better and stitch ourselves up, and a scar may form. But the scar is a reminder that we did heal and had the courage to move on. That may be reaching, but that was what I was left with after reading her story. If you love complications and a bit of heartache with your romance novels, I would suggest reading Stitches and Scars. The friction with Elle and Trent was also a nice addition, but I would have liked to have seen their story enfold in a separate book.
I found Stitches and Scars to be a cute story. The book has strong themes of fate and destiny which might appeal to some; however, overall, I thought it added to the predictability of the story. The characters in the book are well written, especially Elle. Her dialogue had me laughing out loud at times.
I did feel like I was reading a book that should be classified more in the YA genre because it is very PG for a romance. In other novels of the same genre, the authors have managed to develop sensual and passionate scenes without being overly graphic. I felt that this author fell short in trying to convey those same emotions to her readers.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun and easy read. I've found that other novels in this same genre are often poorly written. They rely on shocking themes or overly descriptive love scenes to mask poor writing skill, and it is refreshing to read an author who does actually take some care in her prose. I will definitely give future novels from this author a chance as I feel there is great potential in her writing.
I first read this book on the 30th November 2012 and decided to reread it. The first time I gave it 3 stars, well this time round it is 4 stars.
Kate Thomas and her three best friends now live in New Hope near Philly. Kate is a photographer and was in a relationship with her best friend Scott and he did a real number on her. Kate lives with Elle and also technically with Sophie but (Sophie has been with Elle's brother Logan since Highschool)
Kate had to many insecurities and she was working through them throughout the book it was just sometimes she was in her own pity party.
Kate meets a mysterious man at the Art Gallery where she is showing her work as a photographer. They both feel an instant pull to one another. Fate leads them to meeting one another, some are funny and some aren't.
Elle meets Trent (which is also really funny) There are several plots that are going on here and it really is an enchanting book.
Kate and Ethan are a perfect match. I would have enjoyed to hear a bit more about Logan. I loved how Trent and Elle met once again if it is meant to be then it will happen. It most certainly is a must read. So put it on your list.
Overall...rasanya kayak ngeliat drama seri aja.
Tapi yah itu...cuma sesimpel itulah ceritanya. Good, light, cheesy romance book
This is a cute story about falling in love and discovering yourself. What could you possibly do if you had a broken soul because of a past friend-love-that-didn’t-go-well ended? Could you trust yourself and the others? That is the main point made in this book: Kate (a photographer that has a gift when she is with a camera) has to discover what love really is and that she could be happy.
On the other hand, Ethan is a great doctor but his love life isn’t perfect: he just broke up with a crazy, manipulative girl (Cindy)! He is the reason Kate will believe she could be loved. I just think these two could have talked more before jumping to conclusions and/or feeling like they were less than what the other needed.
The other characters were great! I especially liked Trent and Elle (these two were perfect for each other and were funnier when they were together).
An e-copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review, thank you!
Do you want to read a smart, witty romantic comedy? If so, read this book! Kate, the heroine of Stitches, is a woman that we can all relate to. She's dealing with a breakup, one that has left her emotionally scarred. Things change when she meets handsome doctor Ethan. He is hot, but he's not one of those unattainable men that average girls don't stand a chance with. That's what I like most; I can relate to these characters! With the help of their best friends, Kate and Ethan pursue their relationship. The path to true love isn't always perfect, but Kate and Ethan realize it is worth fighting for.
You'll laugh a lot as you read Stitches and Scars, and you'll find yourself cheering for Kate as you read on. I also promise you'll never look at fruit the same way again.
I thought it seemed familiar, and I did read this as a ffn story before. I read so much I can't keep them straight. It was good to go back and see it as an actual story.
The author did a good job of explaining characteristics that we as ffn readers usually know automatically from the characters. I think I actually liked this better as a stand alone book rather than a ffn story. I liked the characters more, and I liked the feel of it. Maybe I just sound silly, who knows.
Would I suggest this book to someone? Absolutely, if what they're looking for is something more light-hearted and romantic. Is it something I'll read again? Yes. More than once. And that is a true measure of how much I like a book.
A fun, light read. A story of best friends and new loves. Kate is a photographer and is having her first Exhibition. Of course she's nervous but with the help of her 2 bff's She's able to do it. During the exhibition she meets a very hunky man but he's gone before she could find out who he is. Kate thinks about him constantly and ends up getting together with him but do they end up together? The story also includes her friends, Elle who is a model and ends up being in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Elle ends up meeting a football star who they find out is Ethans (Kates new love) roommate. Kate's other bff is Sophie and also has a boyfriend and I wonder if there will be a story about her life. Highly recommend this fun romance story and a quick read too!
A quick summer read. This is a light romance with three different relationships between the three best friends and their boyfriends.I loved the relationship between Kate and Ethan. Kate is dealing with a breakup that has left her emotionally scarred. Things change when she meets Dr Ethan a hot, sexy hunk of a man. With the help of their friends they persue their relationship. The path to true love isn,t always easy but Kate and Ethan realize it is worth fighting for. I look forward to reading more books by Elizabeth A. Vincent
This was a really sweet and fluffy read. The type of book you read if you want a straight up love story. It did have a bit of angst in it but I think if the book was ALL fluff it wouldn't have been as good. I loved the relationship between Kate and Ethan. This was once a fanfic but I think if a person that didn't know it wouldn't make the small connections of the characters as one that had read or knew it was a fanfic at one time. I never got a chance to read the fic version of this book but I really enjoyed the read. Definitely a must read.
I liked the story line behind this book. I liked that we were able to see three different relationships between the three BFF's and their boyfriends. What I found lacking was the pace of this book. It was such a slow read that it didn't hold my attention well. I found myself skipping around the book and looking ahead rather than staying on track. This is my only prob with the book.<'b>
I really enjoyed this story. From the first page I could tell it was going to be a hard book to put down, I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. All the characters were amazing and funny. The friendship between the three girls was so real that you pretty much felt like the fourth one in the group. Ethan and Kate had a great relationship and I loved the chemistry! I really recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story. :)
