"The God of the Old Testament is the same God as the Father of our Lord Jesus the Messiah. This God is agape and has always acted consistently with His nature. There is no discontinuity between the love of the Old Testament and the love of the New Testament." (Page 87)
Harwood nails it in his description of what God is like and what we are like, and what we all desperately need. I'm so glad I found this book again. I had read it -- maybe 6 years ago-- and really needed it today. You will be glad you found it, and read it, and then took it on board. I pray this for you.

I read this book in preparation for a sermon series. God’s True Love helps one to understand the true meaning of agape and the true conception of God. Must read, and read again.

This is a great book that expounds upon the Love of God from a biblical perspective. It has often been said that Love is a choice, and to some extent that is true. But to truly love requires all of who we are: Our emotions, our mind, our will. To equate love with only a choice is to leave out God's command to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Even as God requires us to Love Him with all of who we are, His Love for us encompasses all of who He is. God doesn't just Love us because it's the "right thing to do", He loves us with passion, intensity, and desires to bring us to Himself even in our sins.
I highly recommend this book to new Christians as well as those seeking to find a biblical preservative on the Love of God. This book definitely challenged me personally and challenged some of my perspective on Love, particularly on the meaning of agape, the Greek word for Love commonly used in the New Testament.

Invite David Harwood to minister the "Love of God Project" at your local assembly. He has a great impartation ministry that accompanies this book that doctrinally builds the case to love Him emotionally! I recommend Dana Candler's books to begin that experiential journey of loving Him emotionally.

A book that everyone should read. Even if you you are a believer and know the love of G-d for a long time, it will renew your faith and love and will probably speak to something that is troubling you in your life today.
