Rekindled love, cowboy style. I generally really like Mari Carr books, and a good part of that is due to character development. This one was very short, and while we got glimpses into their past, it wasn't enough for me to have a connection with the characters. The sex was hot and virtually instant, lol. I'm also not sure how a woman who purported to love her dead husband so completely could profess her love for a past flame within a couple of weeks. But the epilogue was cute (if not somewhat expected). Cute story, just not great for me.

a short story that is well written, with characters you fall in love with and a story that you want to see succeed.

Rekindled starts your fire on the first page, keeps your anticipation on smolder before it blasting into flames when the characters finally combust, in this wonderfully written new Quickie, by Mari Carr.
Claire Hutchins and Jeb Carter were high-school sweethearts who had different dreams. Claire wanted the security of a man who could run a ranch, father her children and love her forever. Jeb wanted to follow his dream of the challenge of bull riding and headed for the rodeo circuit. Claire settles for marriage to Bob Hutchins, a man who can provide exactly that stability of a ranch. Jeb unable to watch the love of his life married to boring old Bob heads off to the rodeo circuit and comes back a semi-celebrity. When Bob dies leaving Claire, a childless widow, looking for a foreman to help her run the ranch, Jeb shows up for a job interview.
A quick kiss from Jeb is enough to make Claire feel things she hasn’t felt since high school. She hires Jeb but firmly tells him that he’s only hired as a foreman, and nothing more. Well Jeb, the ultimate alpha male refuses to be denied the love of his life. After two weeks of being merely the foreman, he stakes his claim on Claire, showing her exactly how much he learned while on the rodeo circuit, from all that bull riding. The timid Claire he knew in high school has matured into a sexy intelligent woman who isn’t afraid to let her man lead, or to challenge him when she wants to be in command. The sex is so hot, steamy, and kinky it leaves the reader hankering for a quickie with their own significant other.
Mari Carr sizzles once again showing her ability as a master of the quickie. Rekindled gets a heat rating of 4, making it so smoking hot it threatens to break the 4 teacups it gets.

Mari Carr certainly knows how to spin a tale. Yet again, she has written a wonderful story that yes, is full of yummy sexiness, but one that also has that human touch, the ability to make us feel and want. Claire and Jeb have their history, the whole love lost thing. Jeb knew Claire couldn’t handle what he wanted, what he wanted from her, so in the end they went their separate ways. Once reunited, Jeb introduced a whole new level to their relationship. The dominance and submission, though very mild, was very well done. The pauses Claire would take before doing something Jeb asked, nay, demanded were wonderful to witness.

I love that Claire is a smartass, it reminds me very much of myself. The fact that she doesn’t make anything easy, constantly pushing and teasing. And Jeb, who takes all that pushing and teasing in stride, who loves her for being her, because otherwise, he would be bored.

The story flowed well, and kept you reading until the very end. While not unique, I definitely feel that Ms. Carr put a unique spin on the reunited lover’s story. She has become a favourite author of mine, and I highly recommend this tale.

And how awesome is it, that this book is dedicated to our very own T!

“This story is dedicated to that ebook addict, T. A wonderful reviewer and an even better friend. Thanks for the title suggestion.”

I like this story it's a short quick read, everything was happening at such a fast paste that by the time you get into it they are in bed together and there was nothing wrong with that. Claire and Jeb knew each other as they were childhood sweet hearts, Claire has been married 10 years to someone else but he died a year piror in walk Jeb. The only thing that nag at me the husband past a year ago but it felt like it should have been longer before she connected back with Jeb I don't know if she was ever in deep love with the husband before he died. Other that that cut story, loved the ending quick short read.

Was given $5 from Google Play and this was one of the stories I purchased. It's not bad for a $2.50 really short story, but lacked the depth in plot and characters that would have made it better. But what can you do in 35 pages? Meh.

cute, short story - reconnecting of high school sweethearts with a twist. (i.e. the reason they broke up is the reason they're perfect together). good sex, but not wacky.
