This book, despite being over 40 years old, is, in my opinion, the best French text book available. It teaches the language the old-fashioned way, actually using grammar! If you want to be able to speak the language properly rather than just pointing at things and trying out the dreadful phrasebook French which is all they tech these days, get a copy.
