The men and women of Last Chance, Inc. are back in another heart-stopping tale!
British special agent Nigel Ferris has devoted his life to working covert operations, and avoiding relationships. Until he's called upon to help foil an international terrorist plot, and comes face-to-face with the one woman who ever came close to scaling his emotional walls.
Photojournalist Melissa Pope knows that the intelligence she's been gathering is invaluable—so much so that someone's willing to kill her for it. But the man assigned by Last Chance to protect her is another kind of threat altogether . . .
Drawn into the heart of a dangerous game of international intrigue, Melissa and Nigel are soon fighting for their lives . . . and for the chance to explore the long-denied passion that still burns between them.
Award winning author Dee Davis worked in association management before turning her had to writing. Her highly acclaimed first novel, Everything In Its Time, was published in July 2000. Since then, among others, she’s won the Booksellers Best, Golden Leaf, Texas Gold and Prism awards, and been nominated for the National Readers Choice Award, the Holt and two RT Reviewers Choice Awards. To date, she is the author of over thirty novels and novellas, including her current A-Tac series and Cottage in the Mist. When not sitting at the computer, Dee spends time exploring Connecticut with her husband, daughter, and Cardigan Welsh Corgis.
The final installment in Dee Davis's Last Chance series focuses on British MI6 agent, Nigel Ferris, and photojournalist Melissa Hope, the woman with whom he had an intense affair with 15 years earlier. Nigel and Melissa are reunited when the cases they are each assigned coincide and they must work together to stop a deadly threat.
Nigel and Melissa have excellent chemistry and their initial scene together is definitely the most fiery in the series. The two work well together to overcome the obstacles to their relationship and there is, thankfully, no unnecessary angst.
The suspense plot is comprised of several threads that ultimately come together although it does get confusing at times trying to keep track of the various villains and their agendas. The primary villain is particularly menacing and the climax and resolution are intense and exciting.
Davis's writing style is good overall, but she does have a tendency toward over-description, which can slow the pacing during the action scenes.
In sum, this is an enjoyable series recommended for fans of romantic suspense.
This is the 3rd and last of the Last chance trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. This one was a bit heavy on details but the chemistry between Melissa and Nigel was great. A great ending to the series, although I was hoping Harrison would get to have his own story. I look forward to more by this author.
Dee Davis has a remarkable talent for writing truly intriguing, action-packed romances. Exposure, the last book in The Last Chance Trilogy is no exception. Could not help but want to keep reading Exposure in rapt fascination after reading the opening scene -- and didn't lose interest, even after reading the last sentence of the epilogue.
Exposure features: {1} Nigel Ferris, a gorgeous, extremely alpha MI6 agent, who allows himself to lower his emotional shields to find future happiness. {2} Melissa Pope, a vibrant, intelligent, gorgeous, strong-willed, self-sufficient CIA agent, whose emotional barriers were twice as thick as Nigel's. {3} A renewal of the romance that had started to develop between Nigel and Melissa fifteen years ago. {4} Plenty of action and adventure included in plot to keep story moving at a fast pace. {5} Inclusion of many different interwoven plot threads to keep the suspense level intense through entire book. {6} Although did not feel the depth of emotional connection to Nigel and Melissa that should have, Davis did bring heat and sizzle to their lovemaking scenes. {7} Well-developed, interesting secondary characters added great depth and interest to plot. Particularly liked the continued development of the protagonists from the previous two books of the trilogy.
Would readily recommend The Last Chance Trilogy to any reader who enjoys the Romantic Suspense genre. A more in-depth, detailed review of Exposure appears at Wolf Bear Does Books.
I've got to give it to Dee Davis for having the most ridiculous plots though with this one the "red herring" that she threw into all Last Chance books wasn't quite as obvious and I spent some quality time thinking there was an extra bad guy that I hadn't quite figured out. Also got to laugh when the author goes with the standard killing of a minor/extra character just to get rid of them. Always liked Nigel. I kind of wish Harrison had gotten his own book. Hopefully he shows up in one of her other later books.
exposure - Last Chance Trilogy #3 - (Nigel and Melissa)
British special agent Nigel Ferris has devoted his life to working covert operations and avoiding relationships. Until an international terrorist plot puts him as protector for photojournalist Melissa Pope. She deepens her previous cracks in his personal walls. They now fight for their lives and long-denied passion.
Nigel Ferris is a British special agent called on to help in a terrorist plot. This brings him back to Melissa Pope, a woman he once knew. For whatever reason it just didn't work for me. It had many of the right elements but I struggled to finish it.
Love mysteries and this just gets right in there. Of course the guy gets the girl who he lost years ago. It held my interest and I wanted to hurry to finish reading it .
