Questo libro è credo il miglior testo di problemi matematici ricreativi che abbia mai comprato. Non so se sia merito dell'internazionalità degli autori (Vaderlind è un polacco emigrato in Svezia, Larson è uno svedese emigrato negli USA, Guy un britannico giramondo); ma secondo me nei 256 problemi presenti è stato raggiunto un equilibrio perfetto tra la complessità, le nozioni matematiche richieste e la piacevolezza del testo.
Il libro può essere usato a diversi livelli; molti dei problemi presentano un aiuto, e molte soluzioni portano a generalizzazioni del risultato e a problemi aperti, computazionali e no, che possono essere dati agli studenti più volonterosi nel caso si voglia sfruttare il libro come fonte di esercizi. Dimenticavo: alla fine del testo c'è un glossario (anzi, un Treasury: una raccolta, insomma) di termini usati nella matematica ricreativa, che prima o poi riciclerò da me :-)
