Beautiful illustrations and narration explaining who the Amish are, including history, customs, dress, and even pictures of quilt patterns.

This non-fiction book describes the beliefs and way of life of the Amish. It covers the history of the group in Europe and the emigration of many Amish to America in the 18th century. Amish customs are described in some detail, from attire to educational system. The narrative deals respectfully with sensitive issues of conflict between Amish and non-Amish (“English”) society. This book could be of particular interest to children living in areas of the country with large Amish populations.
