I would use this book to explain the importance of firefighters and what they do for the community. I would read this book close to a fire drill or during career week to younger children. I especially like how the book holds harder words that children may not know and defines them in a glossary in the back.

I use this book to help the children learn about firefighters, we also discuss how the children waited outside of the school until the firefighters said it was safe. We then practice a fire drill and stop, drop and roll.

Like the Police Officer text, it gives the basics of a primary exploration of a firefighter's duties, though the story is not terribly exciting or interesting even. It does its job though.
