Gala, a promising classical musician from New York City, must re-evaluate her own ambitions and loyalties as she is faced with her parents' divorce, her live-in lover's success, and her own surprising affair
DNF, this book made me almost as mad as the catcher in the rye. This 26 year old chick has no business being so angsty about such juvenile things. I was a band kid and even I couldn't understand half of the musical references in this book, nor could I figure out at any given moment what was actually happening. Also her relationship with her father made me wildly uncomfortable.
An amazingly well-written debut novel. Gala, a young struggling oboist in NYC, is afflicted by performance anxiety, family anxiety, and commitment/relationship anxiety, and they all come to a head in the course of a couple of months. Beautiful writing.
this novel tells the story of a teenage girl who has been through different experiences in order to finally realize what she really wants at the end.... I recommend this book for every person who is still lost and is trying to figure out their life goals
