As he scrambles to save Mino’s deteriorating soul, Jaehwan is suddenly transported to a strange dimension. There, he faces a mysterious old man who wields a power similar to his own—the power of Awakening! His interest is piqued when the ancient warrior claims to have known the Dream Demon Mulak, the cryptic architect of the Nightmare Tower that appeared on Earth! But before the man can tell the full story, an aura of bottomless dread descends upon the fortress.
Something has awakened, something that whispers death and despair. For the first time ever, Jaehwan must fight with his full strength if he is to survive the impending doom…
I think I've given this a fair chance, so I'm throwing in the towel. I'm just really bored by it all. The main character has no substance, I'm getting no personality whatsoever. All the other characters aren't that interesting either. The world building is meh. This comic is just not for me, unfortunately.
“A protagonist? What is this, a comic book?” Lol 😂
Def easier to follow than the last volume, with some humor mixed in. And the doctor character is entertaining. Excited to see what happens next after that cliffhanger 👀
There's an amount that I want to go back and tag this "villain protagonist" after Jaehwan says straight out that he wants to destroy their world, but just because a dude wants to stab LITERALLY EVERYTHING, does that REALLY make him a villain?
Hmm. (Haha.)
Still a GORGEOUS book... with a sort of dull story. I imagine it will be like Solo Leveling if they eventually make THIS into an anime, too—the art will look exactly the same (if not imperceptibly worse due to the animation process) but will have AMAZING effects that will be the main reason anyone would think it's a top-tier anime vs. kind of "mid." I mean, I like it better than Solo Leveling, since Jaehwan is more convincingly jaded by what he experiences (vs. Jinwoo having his humanity slowly eroded to where he stops feeling like a real person and more a human-shaped monster with one brain cell, and that brain cell is devoted to increasing strength).
I do appreciate the usual "much easier to read than the infinite scrolling of Webtoon that makes me motion sick after a while, and Cheongheo's "world" (which first appears here) is simply a delight to view, but I'm pretty much only getting the books to support the series vs. to collect... well, I suppose I collect them for free library donations, haha.
Recommended for fans of Solo Leveling-type "beautiful action" stories, less so for anyone looking for depth. Dude's regularly called "One-Stab Man" for a reason!
ahhh, the bond between jaehwan and mino is making me heart swell ❤️❤️ I really hope she joins his party at the end of this town saga 🙏
the stab vs slash battle was hilarious, I loved that! 😂
and I swear, jaehwan was already hot but I feel like this volume did right by him even more 😍 he’s stunning!!
but the sovereign, though!!! wow, if this series ever gets an anime adaption I bet he will be the same level of creepiness as god’s statue from solo leveling or the titans from shingeki no kyojin and I’M SO HERE FOR IT 🔥🔥🔥
what I am not here for is ENDING THE GODDAMN VOLUME ON A CLIFFHANGER LIKE THAT WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU 😡 good thing the next one is already out…
5 stars ⭐️ again, but how could I not when I’m already picking up the next volume?

Souls in Chaos don't age or die, but become contaminated. Once they reach 100%, they become fiends. Medicine can be made from beast horns, but a special technique known as Fiend Slash can cut the contamination away and allow a soul to recover. Jaehwan picks it up after seeing it once.
So he's tasked with saving the castle lord whose contamination is growing faster than the Doctor can cut it away. And all hell breaks lose.
Personally, it feels like the traitor plot line was an afterthought. All of the traitors appeared out of nowhere because plot reasons, no build up, no nothing. But what happens after is the part that has me intrigued and not just because of the cliffhanger ending.
So he saved Mino and the other guy. And now wants protection from the place he snuck into...? But I thought he wanted to destroy Chaos?
Huh....so the Dream Demon that made his tower wanted to destroy Chaos......I wonder if he made his tower to prepare Jaewan to destroy Chaos where he couldn't....?
Whoa......who is the Sovereign?!?! Is Jaewan going to turn into a Fiend now?! Will he find a way to win against the Sovereign?!

This waves between a 3.5 and a 4 star, mostly because I just don't like the horror art in this series. I get that being shocked someone named "Undead Gamja" makes particularly gruesome-looking enemies is a bit odd, but at times this series really does go a bit far with the grotesque, and it's just unpleasant. The narrative is still expanded well, and it's neat to see how Undead Gamja has designed different things. It's just a bit rough to get through at times.
Jaehwan meets another enlightened character and he learns more about different powers associated with awakening. With his help, Mino is saved. Jaehwan learns more about the Dream Demon Mulak and the failed expedition to the abyss.
This volume ends with Jaehwan's fight with a dangerous enemy.
I like the art for this, so I'm giving this a 2, but I don't care for the actual story. There is no emotion in this story, and the main character's personality is very flat. When he was described as being a reincarnation of stabbing, I laughed. This story is just not for me
Read up to ch.69 - kinda mid compared to orv interesting world but the awakening stuff is a bit shit since he just pulls stamina out of his ass mid battle
Jaehwan is so powerful it’s crazy. His stab technique is monstrous, but he is still growing. I’m so excited for volume 4, because I need to see what happens in his fight with the Master of Chaos.
Boss fight was amazing. He’s finally learning more about his world and more answer are revealed but new questions arise. Each book is only getting better and better
We follow our awakened main character through more trials and tribulations in this volume. He nay have actually met his match this time. Still some surprises and turns. I'm intrigued to see what happens next!
The storyline and art is top tier. Need I say more the characters and their designs are the best!! This series is very entertaining, the characters are likeable and the story is immersing. Definitely one of my favorite volumes in the series.
