Acho que nunca demorei tanto tempo a ler um livro com pouco mais de 300 páginas. Mas achei tão aborrecido. Existe muita repetição de ideias, acho que autora diz muitas vezes a mesma coisa, não entendo bem porquê.

O texto é muito confuso, não percebi grande coisa da história e foi uma luta constante para conseguir acabar o livro.

Li Agustina pela primeira vez.
Confundiu-me. O Douro que descrevia só podia ser o do início do século XX, mas não. Era actual, recente, com as tramas da modernidade, as drogas, a prostituição, os bares de alterne.
E o casamento por interesse, o interesse em estar casado, o ser e o parecer, a burguesia. Esses são temas intemporais.

Confesso que se não fosse pelo projecto da Elisa de ler o cânone português, não teria lido tão cedo ou não teria lido de todo um livro de Agustina Bessa-Luís. Sempre me pareceu uma autora que escrevia para elites. Também não sei se comecei por uma boa obra para quem nunca leu nada dela.

O que é certo é que não desgostei do livro, apesar de muitas vezes não ter a certeza se percebia onde a autora queria chegar. Não sei se queria contar a história das personagens, fazer uma caracterização dos vário

Agustina Bessa-Luís was born in Vila Meã (Amarante) in 1922. Her father's family was from the north of Portugal and her mother was Spanish.

She lived her childhood and teenagehood in the region of Douro, Minho and then Coimbra in 1948. She married Alberto Oliveira Luís in 1945 and after 1948 she moved to Oporto.

She started writing at the age of 16 and in 1950 she published her first novel, Mundo F
