Trina is a scientist with a passion for history, music, and photography. She loves to travel and experience new places but is terminally shy around people she doesn't know. When the zombie apocalypse occurs, you'll want to find her because she's a crack shot, and promises to take out those nasty decomposing flesh-eating vermin before they have a chance to make you their snack. Her favorite aunt gave Trina a sultry romance novel to read while they were on vacation together back when Trina was in middle school and made her promise not to tell her mother. She's been hooked ever since! Her choices in reading and writing material are as diverse as her Apple Music library, which contains music from Mozart to Metallica. Her one concession is all stories must have a happily ever after ending-did we mention she's incurably romantic? She's the mother of a very strong-willed and sweet little boy who frequently makes her smile and grimace within seconds of each other. She firmly believes that the sweetness comes from her, and the other part is her husband's fault. She loves to hear from readers, and her greatest wish is that we all strive to achieve bigger dreams.
Ethan Harrison, a lawyer working at the U.S. Attorney's office, knows he's met the man of his dreams when FBI Special Agent Ryan Ashton walks into his office. They'll be working on a case of economic espionage together and almost immediately sparks fly. Intensely attracted to each other it's not long before the men are involved physically and quickly thereafter emotionally. As they work to stop a man from selling secrets to China their relationship flourishes. When Ethan is viciously attacked Ryan is there to care for his man and later together they get the job done and more importantly they realize just how perfect they are for each other and look forward to a happy and loving future together.
His Perfect Partner is the second book in the Perfect Love series but can be read as a standalone. It's an entertaining story filled with really nice likable characters, not much angst but plenty of sweetness, perhaps a bit too much. Like the title says these are nearly "perfect" men. They're tall, handsome, with great bodies but are also smart, well liked, sexy and aside from Ethan's family being cold and unloving everyone else loves them. Ryan's family, Ethan's friends and coworkers, all are very accepting of the men and their relationship.
This is essentially a 'boy meets boy, they fall in love and soon wedding bells are ringing' story. Despite the espionage plot there is very little suspense or action in the story. There are a couple of threatening phone calls after the attack and then a scene at the trial and that's it. Most of the book is about the Ryan and Ethan's developing relationship. I did like that the author kept mentioning the passage of time so that while it felt like insta-love in fact weeks would pass by in some chapters.
This story should appeal to a wide range of readers. The writing is solid although there are a few editing issues throughout and the characters are likable and interesting even though there's not much growth to them. Their relationship is sweet and tender as well as quite sexy and hot and I also enjoyed their interactions with most of the supporting casts.
His Perfect Partner is a quick and easy read. It's entertaining although if you're looking for lots of suspense and action you'll be disappointed. However, if you're just looking for a romantic love story with minimal angst, lots of hot sex as well as some sweet tender moments this could be for you.
I would have shoved this in my comfort reads folder as it's sweet, angst-free and there are no nasty surprises. However, in the end, the sugary sweetness was so overwhelming, my teeth hurt.
HPP is simple and straightforward - boy meets boy, fall in love, get married. That's it. There was a teensy-weensy bit of suspense thrown in when Ethan got beaten up by some Asians. Ryan suspects it was connected to a case Ethan was handling and disguised as a hate crime. Nothing happens with this until towards the end of the book when Ethan gets a threatening phone call, telling him to lay off this Yeung guy.
At that point, I had to check the pages as I knew the story was about to end. Well, it did. That suspense thread went nowhere. The only reason I can think of as to why the author even had it is that there will be a sequel and this thread will get picked up there. I won't be getting it as I can't see the author aiming for a romantic suspense and it's likely to end up similar to HPP.
The characters from the previous book, The Perfect Union Calleigh, Rick and Conor make an appearance here.

This was a great story. I love how the author goes against the usual recipe and where you normally say this is where the characters start to doubt themselves, they just grow stronger and face everything together. One complaint is that the attacks and threats are such a small part of the story that it seems almost like a waste of page space.
Another great story from this series. I really have enjoyed this author's writing. The story telling has a great flow and you get immersed with her characters.
The reader was introduced to Ethan Harrison in the first book, The Perfect Union. He is Conor and Rick's best friend from college. As an Assistant US attorney, Ethan has been assigned a case in which FBI Special Agent Ryan Ashton has been investigating. He has been investigating the case for over a year and was handing over case information to Ethan's office. The attraction between the two men were obvious during their initial meeting.
This story had another set of great characters. They were paired well and had great chemistry. There was enough intrigue to make the story work, but it was the building of Ethan and Ryan's relationship that made this story an enjoyable read. They are both strong men and successful in their chosen profession, but there's also a sense of passion in their work that they both can relate to. Ethan has always been driven to work harder coming from a family that ignores his sexual orientation. No matter what he has accomplished with his life, his family never seem to accept him. Ryan's family was the complete opposite. He grew up with the full support of his family and share it willingly with Ethan. The differences and the similarities between Ethan and Ryan is what made this story believable. As the title suggests, it's about finding the perfect partner.
Nice sweet story about Ethan and Ryan - a US Attorney and an FBI agent who meet over a case and are instantly attracted to each other. There is angst surrounding Ethan's family - who does not accept that he is gay - and around the case that Ryan has investigated and that Ethan is prosecuting. Nice moments include Ryan's family total acceptance of Ethan and Ethan's friends acceptance of Ryan as Ethan's choice. Ryan and Ethan make a hot couple and there is a very nice ending as well.
If you'r looking for a good romantic story with some nervous moments but a lovely triumph for love, them you'll like this story.
This is a great book. It moves and never gets boring. There was a shock what happened to one of them. It made me want to keep reading. Nice how it cleared up all that happened. I just finished reading this and want to read it again. If you like a book that doesn't put you to sleep and is a good read get this book. I look forward to reading another book by this author.
