This was actually one of the most informative, interesting, and valuable books I read in college (regarding business, that is). It might have had something to do with the fact that Dr. Duane Ireland (one of the authors) was my professor for the course and he was excellent. I did really well in the class and I owe it all to Dr. Ireland's teaching style, and the cohesiveness with which the textbook was written and the class taught. Well done, Dr. Ireland. What I would give to be back, sitting in your Tuesday/Thursday Management 466H class. I remember I felt so out of place when the class began because white girls with Texas backgrounds were a definite minority. I have thought so many times about writing you a letter (I should really write you a letter) to let you know that you were the first professor that really seemed to take an interest in me, make me feel smart. I should do that...To-Do, Will-Do.
When you are reading 3 separate text books at once, combining the thoughts, concepts and ideas can be quite challenging. Hitt creates a foundation of concept while the others seem to create the application components. A must read for anyone involved in strategic planning!
