The small island of Tatsumiya, quietly tucked away off the coast of Japan, seems calm and peaceful... until a sudden attack is made by the enemy -- Festum. Enter Kazuki, who knows that he must pilot a Fafner in order to defeat Festum.
I picked this up at Goodwill on a whim, and decided to give it a try. I didn't really care for it. It's a mecha manga, which I don't really like. Also, it wasn't really mentioned why they were fighting in giant robots, or who they were fighting against. The manga left me more confused than anything. Needless to say, I won't be continuing with this series.
I absolutely don't know what to say about this one. I had really no idea where the story was headed, I had a very hard time figuring out what exactly was going on, and I really don't get why everyone was fighting in giant robots. I think it is partly due to my being a new manga reader, and should probably have read it more slowly to take in all of the illustrations. But the story was still strange. But Perhaps all manga stories are strange.
Finding what seems like a manga mech diamond in the rough is one of my life aspirations. Well - two out of three here. The art - at times beautiful and elegant in its world building - is muddy and unclear when it matters. The writing is too fast and underdeveloped. This feels like a rough draft of a good manga - but it’s published!
