Brimming with unique patterns for smaller projects that are not only a blast to create but quick to complete, this handbook will satisfy the needs of those getting started as well as experienced crocheters who would like to improve their skills. Those seeking to make something other than the standard scarves may choose from an array of charming, colorful projects including wearables for themselves and items for the home—bags, belts, funky jewelry, and purses and coasters, potholders, and throws. Simple yet precise instructions are accompanied by an assortment of illustrations, and a special section on charming projects for babies and kids and a few projects that combine a touch of knitting to add interesting detail are also included.
If you're looking for crochet projects specifically, this might not be the book you want. A surprising amount of projects in this book are Knit, not crochet. Some patterns leave a lot to the imagination, such as the rug pattern that simply says to make a loop, and guess how much to increase as you go (aka Not Actually A Pattern). Some pages are full of hats and scarves with the pattern just being for the embellishments upon them (like a flower). Unless you can do both knitting and crochet, and if you are mostly looking for embellishments, I wouldn't recommend this book. Though it is quite pretty to look through. It's just too bad the title is deceiving.
The name of this book is CROCHET For The Fun Of It! I bit. What I reeled in is a book that has a handful of knitting patterns thrown in!!! WTH?! That annoys me to no end and I wasn't enjoying the book in the first place!
This book is cute as can be, but nowhere in the title does it mention "knitting". Yet, the book has a lot of knitted projects. That sort of yanks my chain because I don't like it when the two are clumped together, especially when advertised as a "crochet" project book. Just the same, the book has some really cute patterns and clever ideas.
Good book with lots of cute ideas. Simple easy to understand instructions. Lots of great pictures of the projects themselves not random pictures like some books give you. Many projects I wouold like to do. It is confusing though the title says crochet, but there are a few knitting projects in there as well. Will look at again later when I have more experience and try some of the projects out!
