After the publication of fellow patrol member Andy McNab's Bravo Two Zero in 1993, Ryan published his own account of his experiences during the Bravo Two Zero mission in 1995, entitled The One That Got Away. Since retiring from the British Army Ryan has published several fiction and non-fiction books, including Strike Back, which was subsequently adapted into a television series for Sky 1, and co-created the ITV action series Ultimate Force. He has also presented or appeared in numerous television documentaries connected to the military or law enforcement.

Good, better than Wildfire but still lacking the intensity of Flash Flood and Outbreak.

A fast-paced adventure story, featuring a couple of resourceful kids.
Ben Tracey and his cousin Annie MacPherson, both aged 13, go on a bird-watching expedition to the north of England, where they see a man in an RAF uniform shoot a rare endangered bird. In trying to find more about this they come across a secret unauthorised weapon research project, with a plan to sell the weapon to people who would endanger thousands of lives. But this knowledge puts their own lives in danger.

More of the same - even Ben is getting sick of all these Code Red situations! But it did occur to me that I like the female characters. They're a nod to the "girl power" trope, without the books actually being about them. I'm all for strong female characters, but not at the expense of the males. Just because females are capable, doesn't mean males are not. These books pull that off well.

Vortex is about a boy called Ben and he goes with his cousin to a birdwatching trip. When they get there they find a soldier shooting an endangered bird so they explore the nearby RAF base. Before they go they find an old man called Joseph an he says 'strange things happen at Spadeadam' which is the nearby RAF base and they shouldn't go there but they still do. When they go there they find Joseph and explore further and they then get trapped.
Ben lives in Macclesfield which is in England. He is very adventurous and likes to explore because he wanted to explore at Spadeadam. He has also been to many other adventurous places such as Africa and he also likes his cousin and cares about her lots. He also thinks outside the square and tries to find a way out of a difficult task.
I have learn't that you cannot trust everyone but you can trust some people such as Joseph and to always think outside the box.
